Looking after our wellbeing

Looking after our wellbeing

Had a down Saturday that left me feeling depressed but today,Sunday, was a better day, having lunch out

with friends for a couple of hours plus 2 phone calls from long time friends. It is the condition of MI so it

seems, to feel upbeat some days and others down in the duldrums. I expect it is a case of capitalising on

the better days that gets us over the hurdles. Hope each forum member's weekend was good and wish

each one a fair week. Kindest regards - Bimby2

Hi @Bimby2. Yes I agree it's like riding a huge wave - sometimes up -sometimes downs.
I'm glad today was a good day for you

Glad you managed to connect with an old friend. @Bimby2

@utopia is very sensitive and perceptive about other people isnt she. You both seem very caring.

Hi @utopia

I hope things move forward into wellness.

Re: Looking after our wellbeing

@Appleblossom. I'm good at dishing out the advice, but bad on taking it. I know - logically - what I need to do each day to get better - but some days I do the opposite.
Why do I sabotage my health? Another question to ponder.

Re: Looking after our wellbeing

Hi @utopia
I think it's a matter of learning to be a friend to yourself and treating yourself as you would treat a friend. The advice you give to friends in ideal circumstances is what you can give to you. Rather than being a "do what I say not do what I do" person it might be time to also do what you say. You do know the answers. By just changing one little thing at a time you will soon find thst you've made a big change to your life. 💕

Re: Looking after our wellbeing

Hi @Kurra @Appleblossom @ bimby2. Last weekend was a downward slide. As such, there was no self love. Today, things are really looking up & so I've been doing things that I enjoy (as well as doing the clothes and cooking dinner -I've never been a domestic goddess). The more things I do that I enjoy - the happier I feel. This means more days that are good and more moments of happiness that I notice. Hopefully this will also mean the next slide down -it won't be too far down & that I'll be back up on top of the wave sooner.

Re: Looking after our wellbeing

I self sabotage too @utopia but a lot less lately

10 years ago... my daughter and ex would say I love to shoot myself in my foot ... it was true .. at the time I was in max overwhelm and simply could not do anything about it ... now I am calmer

Sometimes its a timing thing

Sometimes it is our higher selves slowly and gently teaching and encouraging us to grow like we try to do when are teaching our kids.

So now I use black humour

I shot myself in the foot and then put my foot in mouth ... and it all a b loody mess ...

I also have recently taken up the good old ocker word as ... irl ... I saw too much but was not allowed to speak about it directly as it was too confronting for people ... so now I pepper my speech with little bl oodies .. and it stops being a a big throat catcher and trigger for me ...

One therapist .. said she didnt do ... bloo d .. I called aher a bit light-weight to my old GP who encouraged me to change ... then my new GP got cross and said that was what she was paid to do ... ???

I have been blocked a lot ... which is why writing actually comes easier than speaking ..

you have a good presence on the site .. @utopia I am really glad you joined.
