Changing meds

Changing meds

Hi. I battled MDD & acute anxiety nearly all of my adult life. I've been on numerous different SSRIs, SRNIs, antipsychotics, tried rTMS & ECT. Am addicted to a benzo for my anxiety.

I am in the process of swapping out from a SRNI to a MAOI and the wash out period is hell. I really don't think I'm going to make it. This is the darkest place I have ever been.
I have no family support, honestly no friends, not able to work & are completely isolated.

i don't feel my medical team actually care much anymore, they are overwhelmed by new clients because of covid.

i hardly sleep, but the last thing in my mind before I do, is how much I want to die. It's the first thought of the day when I wake up.

what if this new medication doesn't work either??

Re: Changing meds

Hey there @WIP,

Sorry to hear you didn't feel supported at that appointment. I can see it has added to the hopelessness. I'm glad you're sharing this with the SANE community. I encourage you to reach out for some one-on-one support via a helpline. I hope you're able to do something caring for yourself this afternoon.

Always,

Sphinxly 🐣

We are here @WIP @Eve7 ,

We are your friends. The dark cloud WILL lift.

Pain is inevitable.

Suffering is avoidable.

As @Anastasia a said, I just want to go through the screen and hug you both.

When I was in a deep dark place, I also thought that was my destiny. I've gone past that now, and I know you can too. It is definitely possible.

Hugs hugs hugs,

BPDSurvivor

Re: Changing meds

Hey @BPDSurvivor

This dark cloud is showing no signs of lifting, but getting bigger and deeper.

I don't understand what you say about suffering - how is it avoidable? I suffer every single day. Am I victim?

Pain is inevitable.

Suffering is avoidable.

Re: Changing meds

@WIP Being in that dark place is horrible andI understand how it feels never ending and continuous.

I do not think you are a victim Hon - you are in a dark place and are suffering. That suffering feels constant and immovable right now. I could say it is going to get better and life will have more light in it but right now you do not feel that or see that. That is what we are here for - to siupport you through this as best we can - and that may be sitting with you, sharing our own experiences or simple holding onto that hope for you. May people held out that hope for me and walked with me along that dark road but they were not feeling what I was nor able to change anything for me - that has to come from within and that can only happen when you are ready to take those steps ....and often those steps really are baby steps for as long as you need. Keep reaching out for the support you need and allowing us to walk with you because knowing others are beside you and listening does make a ddifference.

Here with you and for you Hon

Re: Changing meds

Thanks very much @Zoe7 for your kind words of hope and support.

I do want to change things, however I feel every baby step forward, I take three back. When I reach out to see a new medical professional, I hit a brick wall. I know there's no magical wand and I have to work hard, really hard - but I also know I can't do it on my own. I'm too unstable, too unwell and don't feel I have the strength anymore - I'm losing the fight.

It does help reading a nice message such as you've just written though - so, thank you! x

Re: Changing meds

I know that feeling well @WIP Each minute step we take forward seems to be overriden by the massive ones we take back ...but each little gain is a learning experience - knowing we can do some things and can actually make that small gain. The overwhelming feeling of hopelessness however takes over when we fall back again - I totally get that. ...but I also see your strength and will to get help and want to get through this - it is not easy when you have little support though Hon and I am very sorry for you for that. I also know that feeling of 'losing the fight' but take away from that that you are still fighting and that is often half the battle. You can do this sweetheart because you want to and to me that says everything. I know you do not feel it right now but wanting to get through this darkness and continuingto reach out for that support that will help you get there shows your courage and strength - and I will keep reminding you of that because you matter and can et through this

Thanks @Zoe7 ❣️❣️
It helps being 'heard' by someone who understands.
