Changing meds

Changing meds

Hi. I battled MDD & acute anxiety nearly all of my adult life. I've been on numerous different SSRIs, SRNIs, antipsychotics, tried rTMS & ECT. Am addicted to a benzo for my anxiety.

I am in the process of swapping out from a SRNI to a MAOI and the wash out period is hell. I really don't think I'm going to make it. This is the darkest place I have ever been.
I have no family support, honestly no friends, not able to work & are completely isolated.

i don't feel my medical team actually care much anymore, they are overwhelmed by new clients because of covid.

i hardly sleep, but the last thing in my mind before I do, is how much I want to die. It's the first thought of the day when I wake up.

what if this new medication doesn't work either??

Gorgeous @BPDSurvivor

How lovely of you to want to track me down - I'm so glad you found me. I think of you often, but just assumed you were very busy and not on the forums much.

How have you been my saviour friend?

I really hope all is well with you. Has your work situation changed with this latest lockdown, or is it just that you're working from home currently. I recall you being in the Education sector?!?

I've been better, not great, but a small improvement. Finally found a pdoc under the same site umbrella as my current psychologist, my previous pdoc & where I'm attending the DBT transistions course. He's nice enough, experienced and we are developing a good rapport - he actually listens to me & we make decisions together. He did say he'd only take me on as a patient, if I went into hospital to get off potent anti anxiety meds that I was taking too much of. So, I did that (even though I was so scared, due to previous admisssions) and it went well. I swapped from one benzo to a much less potent one during my 2 week stay and my confidence really improved. I would say the best part of my admission was engaging with ppl (other patients, nurses) and that my pdoc visited me Every Single Day! except weekends of course. I dealt well with the benzo reduction and we also swapped anti depressant, which I tolerated well.

I've dipped a bit since coming home - it's great to have my fur baby with me, but the isolation and loneliness set in pretty quickly. My psychologist has arranged a peer worker through an organisation called WellWays. We've met once and she so lovely. Not sure when we will catch up F2F again now cause of lockdown, but she's offered for me to call whenever I need.

So, I'm slowly getting there. But, I'm in such a hurry to be out doing something/everything - volunteering, gym, working, going community groups. Just a normal life really.

What's new with you?

Hi @Emelia8

Thanks for tagging me in Anastasia's thread y'day.

I'm glad you watched the game too - the better team one. Although, the Blues do what they always seem to do - lead from the start and then fall away in the final quarter.

Perhaps your hubby and my Dad were watching the game together, as you said - some healthy rivalry. At the conclusion of the game, Dad would have just shook his head and rolled his eyes - I can just picture it....he did it frequently over the past 20 years since Carlton have been so inconsistent.

I think of you every day and hope you are ok as best you can be.

Much love,

WIP ❤️

Sending you lots of love too @Anastasia

I nodded off after the footy last night, so missed contributing to yours & SPs conversation. Sorry.

I'm heartbroken at all you are dealing with currently, mainly the uncertainty around your boy. As you say Yes, officially he's an adult, but clearly needs your support/supervision/guidance whatever you want to label it.

How he was able to sh in hospital is beyond me. My recent hospital admission is what I use as an example of how a patient should be managed, particularly one as unwell as your boy.

Im sending out vibes and thoughts to the Universe that things start to turn for you both. The fact you are still standing, Fighting and working - in so many different aspects, proves you are superwoman.

I hope you psych appt goes well 2mrw. There's going to be so much to cover, would it be worth writing a list of top topics you want to cover, just so you don't get sidetracked? Tell me to bigger off, if that sounds lame.

Im here for you! Xx

P.S Thanks for pointing BPDsurvivor in my direction.
