Changing meds

Changing meds

Hi. I battled MDD & acute anxiety nearly all of my adult life. I've been on numerous different SSRIs, SRNIs, antipsychotics, tried rTMS & ECT. Am addicted to a benzo for my anxiety.

I am in the process of swapping out from a SRNI to a MAOI and the wash out period is hell. I really don't think I'm going to make it. This is the darkest place I have ever been.
I have no family support, honestly no friends, not able to work & are completely isolated.

i don't feel my medical team actually care much anymore, they are overwhelmed by new clients because of covid.

i hardly sleep, but the last thing in my mind before I do, is how much I want to die. It's the first thought of the day when I wake up.

what if this new medication doesn't work either??

So sorry you feel so lonely, @WIP 😞 Yes, volunteering would be ideal, once the Covid situation eases... That's good you got out for a walk before the rain, and had something to go out for this morning too. Sorry you tend to crash in the afternoon...I tend to crash in the evening, so I know what you're talking about.

It looks like you're getting to know people on the forums? I hope that helps your loneliness a little...sending you caring thoughts...

Re: Changing meds

I'm trying to connect with others on the forum, but sometimes feel I can't offer much support, because I'm struggling myself.

It does help with my loneliness a little when ppl write to me @NatureLover . So that's something.

Its frustrating crashing towards the end of the day, isn't it. I guess my brain starts to tire, after it's worked so hard during the day to keep my head above water. Don't know if that's how you feel.

Re: Changing meds

Yes, that's how I feel too, @WIP . It's exhausting, isn't it... Do you sleep OK when you do get to bed?

I think you're doing well - I see your name on different threads...and you don't have to offer support if you don't feel up to doing that.

Re: Changing meds

@NatureLover When I say I crash or dip, I become very down & anxious and usually begin crying. I have to take an anti- anxiety med to calm down. It's awful.

I only sleep at the moment with the aid of medication. I don't feel tired and my mind doesn't stop. I would toss and turn all night without the medication. I really don't want my body to get used to it & I asked my psych about it this week, and me getting sleep at the moment is a priority. For three weeks, I only slept 2 or 3 hours a night & not consecutive hours. It messed me up so, so much!! Getting sleep helps a lot. I envisage next psych visit he'll reduce my night time meds.

Do you sleep ok?

I'm sorry your crash is bad enough to take an anti-anxiety med...it does sound awful.

Yes, sleep is so crucial to our wellbeing, isn't it? I take a sleeping tablet every night, so I do OK, thanks. I hope the sleeping meds have kick-started you into having more sleep, @WIP ...

Re: Changing meds

Yeah, I do crash pretty hard @NatureLover

Uncontrollable tears, when I say I struggle, I really do struggle each day. 😢

Sleep is so crucial. Before my MH battles, particularly the last few years only, my sleep

was fine. It's the anxiety that I've developed keeps me awake.

I'm glad you sleep ok @NatureLover

Do you get tired early? Are you an early riser?

Yes, I'm a morning person, I go to sleep pretty early. What about you?

Yes, I can hear your awful struggle in your posts, @WIP 😞

Re: Changing meds

I go to bed around 10, take my meds and usually fall asleep before 11pm. Then I wake around 7.30/8am. I honestly wish I would sleep in longer, but it doesn't happen @NatureLover

The days are just sooo long.....

I'm holding onto a sprinkle of hope that these new AD meds will kick in within the next couple

of weeks, and I'll feel more hopeful about life. I've currently got no motivation or self belief. I'm a shadow of who I once was. BUT, with hard work, my health should improve as long as I keep trying.

Have you had a good week? Much planned for your weekend?

Yes, more sleep would help your long days, but at least it sounds like you are getting a night's sleep at the moment with the sleeping tablets...

I'm glad you've got a sprinkle of hope about the new meds...I am hoping too. @WIP

I hope to have a quiet weekend, just some walking and some house cleaning. Do you have any plans, other than getting through the long days?

Re: Changing meds

I hope you had a good sleep @NatureLover

I'll be having a quiet weekend too, as per usual.

Hopefully the weather doesn't get too wet and I'll be able to get out for a walk or two.
