Changing meds

Changing meds

Hi. I battled MDD & acute anxiety nearly all of my adult life. I've been on numerous different SSRIs, SRNIs, antipsychotics, tried rTMS & ECT. Am addicted to a benzo for my anxiety.

I am in the process of swapping out from a SRNI to a MAOI and the wash out period is hell. I really don't think I'm going to make it. This is the darkest place I have ever been.
I have no family support, honestly no friends, not able to work & are completely isolated.

i don't feel my medical team actually care much anymore, they are overwhelmed by new clients because of covid.

i hardly sleep, but the last thing in my mind before I do, is how much I want to die. It's the first thought of the day when I wake up.

what if this new medication doesn't work either??

Re: Changing meds

Thanks so very much @Emelia8

I'm in dire need of hope and strength, so that poster is very appropriate.

My psychologist was very surprised at how I was treated, and apologised. She only practices out of the hospital I attend one day a week, so doesn't know all psychiatrists, but is going to do some discreet enquires for me. She knows how important it is for me to find someone specific.

She's also going to email my new GP and fill her in on the situation, asking for her help with script writing till I find a new psychiatrist.

To be brutally honest, I'm over psychiatrists - I'm so damaged by the way I've been treated.

thanks so much for thinking of me this morning and posting on my thread - you're so thoughtful, just what I needed today

Same goes for you @Bow @Snowie xx

It is great that you have found such a supportive, helpful psychologist @WIP I am really sure she will find the right psychiatrist for you.

You certainly deserve the best k

pdoc around and I’m sure that person exists and won’t have a waiting list that takes forever.

Big hugs

Re: Changing meds

Hey @WIP, I know you've been having a hard time finding professionals to support you lately, so I'm really glad to hear you've now found someone who it sounds is more helpful and supportive. I wanted to take a moment to recognise your courage and strength seeing them when you've been in crisis. I know I've found it hard starting with a new support professional at the best of times, let alone when I've been in crisis mode! Well done for doing that 👏👏Remember that as hard as it feels, in crisis is when it's most important to reach out, and to me, this is proof that you can.
You're not alone- there's many members here all looking out for you, as you've said. Is Levi far away? Is there something you could do with him? Keep reaching out for support here too & let us know how you're going. I hope things feel better soon 💛

Re: Changing meds

My dear @WIP ... I really have no words right now. I'm sorry, I wish I did. Thank you for your very kind words btw.

I will just say that I am here sitting with you, and happy to talk if you decide you would benefit from that.

@Anastasia has posted some really lovely pics too .. all very appropriate and kind.

Holding your hand to comfort you and reassure you that there is definitely a point to surviving.

Emelia 💞🤗
