Changing meds

Changing meds

Hi. I battled MDD & acute anxiety nearly all of my adult life. I've been on numerous different SSRIs, SRNIs, antipsychotics, tried rTMS & ECT. Am addicted to a benzo for my anxiety.

I am in the process of swapping out from a SRNI to a MAOI and the wash out period is hell. I really don't think I'm going to make it. This is the darkest place I have ever been.
I have no family support, honestly no friends, not able to work & are completely isolated.

i don't feel my medical team actually care much anymore, they are overwhelmed by new clients because of covid.

i hardly sleep, but the last thing in my mind before I do, is how much I want to die. It's the first thought of the day when I wake up.

what if this new medication doesn't work either??

Yes, I've been lathering bruise cream on since Sunday - hasn't made a difference yet, but hoping it will soon. I bruise very easily. Got a couple on each elbow too from trying to break my fall I guess. I feel very broken every time I catch a look at myself in the mirror. Waiting for the pain to ease too - taking too much pain relief I feel @Anastasia

No, I don't wonder much if I know people when I'm out and about. I'm too busy having my head down, hoping I don't bump into people I actually know from my past - that's quite sad isn't it 😞

I love emelias pic - still smiling about it and dreaming of a better place.
My favourite colour is 💙 too!

Re: Changing meds

I hope your psych appt goes well @Bow I'm sure it will be fine and they'll provide you the support you need.

Try not to be anxious about going away, but I totally understand that you are - I would be too.

Do your friends know of your struggles?

The time away down the coast will probably do you the world of good - a short escape from your normal life perhaps.

Hey @WIP ,

I remember when I hit my head on a shelf once. I had an egg on my forehead. Over the next few days, the bruising travelled down to my eyes so I looked like I'd been bashed up. The purplish colour then turned brown, and eventually yellowish. It was a sign of healing. 20 years on, I'm still have an egg on my forehead. It won't go away.

So yes, I guess the bruising is expected.

Re: Changing meds

There are 3 others going @WIP plus kids. 2 of them know bits and pieces, the other doesn’t know anything. They are all in my ladies bible study, so we do know each other well, a lot of my struggles became much worse towards the end of last year and I didn’t share much then. The one lady that doesn’t know anything is very judgmental, she throws around a lot of harsh things, which I really struggle with. She is divorced like me and she has said a lot of hurtful things. I think I am more anxious about her than anything else.

The time away will be nice, just hope I don’t ruin it.

Oh @BPDSurvivor thank you for sharing your story of when you hit your head on a shelf - although I am sorry that you hurt yourself.

It makes me feel better that someone else has experienced the bruising that I've got. I also look like I've been bashed up. I look just frightening.

and the egg on my forehead/ hairline is so sore ☹️ It's going to be a long couple of weeks waiting for it to heal, but interesting to watch the changing colours of the bruising. I wonder how many shades of purple there will be ?

Hi @Former-Member - How are you going miss?

Re: Changing meds

I know it will be difficult @Bow , but try not to worry about the judgement lady. You're not close to her, so if she does say something that could be hurtful, let it just pass by.
You've got the support of the other 2 ladies, and the kids too.

I'm a bit jealous to be honest. A week down the coast sounds like good medicine.

Re: Changing meds

Got room in my suitcase if you like @WIP and anyone else who might appreciate the break. I remember last time we went I could step out the back door and I was right in the water front. Many mornings... evenings spent there.

Re: Changing meds

Yes please @Bow , I'd love to sneak into your suitcase.

Waterfront views and the smell of the beach sounds just wonderful.

Fingers crosses for good weather for you.
