Changing meds

Changing meds

Hi. I battled MDD & acute anxiety nearly all of my adult life. I've been on numerous different SSRIs, SRNIs, antipsychotics, tried rTMS & ECT. Am addicted to a benzo for my anxiety.

I am in the process of swapping out from a SRNI to a MAOI and the wash out period is hell. I really don't think I'm going to make it. This is the darkest place I have ever been.
I have no family support, honestly no friends, not able to work & are completely isolated.

i don't feel my medical team actually care much anymore, they are overwhelmed by new clients because of covid.

i hardly sleep, but the last thing in my mind before I do, is how much I want to die. It's the first thought of the day when I wake up.

what if this new medication doesn't work either??

I hope you can have an early night and good sleep then @Anastasia

Yes, I hope to relax and watch a series on tv. Quite a bit of tension here, so I'm hiding in my room at the moment.
Might google dbt and see if there's a light the end of this tunnel.
I hope there's something good you can watch on tv and rest this evening. 🥰❤️☕️

Re: Changing meds

Enjoy dinner @Anastasia 🥰

I gave up on researching dbt. Felt too overwhelmed. It's very expensive. 😬
I'll stick to watching Winners and Losers for now.
Have a restful evening, Myboy @WIP and everyone.

Re: Changing meds

I'm a bit overwhelmed about DBT too @Former-Member

The new psychologist I see, specialises in DBT therapy and she picked that I have 'emotional dysregulation' in our first session. DBT is the best type of therapy for ED.

Im doing a 12 week Foundations course through the private hospital where I see my pdoc & psychologist. It's half a day for 12 weeks - just an intro really. My private health insurance is being put to good use! At least it's a start for me....I'll see the psychologist weekly & attending the course weekly too, should be really helpful. Fingers crossed! 🤞🤞

Re: Changing meds

Good morning @WIP

That's good you have private health insurance to help pay for the dbt. Sounds like you are on the right track with a good psychologist, new gp, dbt and going off the medication that you don't like taking.
Do you notice any difference this morning from

reducing the med and taking the sleep med instead?

Pouring with rain here. Not that I mind. It's cooler, so that's good. I'm supposed to be going for a big drive to pick something up for a renovation that's happening here. It's approximately an hour, or more away. Not too keen driving in the rain. Not sure I'll go, actually. Probably best not to. Hoping your day is easier today, WIP. 💞

Good morning to @Eve7 @Anastasia @Emelia8 @Bow and everyone else. 💖

I hope today goes well for you all.

Have a good day at work, Myboy. 💞

How's the, cleaning out your house going, Eve? I had a break from it yesterday. It's overwhelming. Keep finding cupboards to clean out. 😬🥺😩

Really sorry to hear about the awful side affects you're having @Emelia8 It must be hard for you to function every day. Hugs for you. 🤗💖

Re: Changing meds

Good Morning @Former-Member How are you today?

I don't blame you for not wanting to drive in pouring rain, especially if it's a long drive. Can you postpone the pickup of what you are collecting, or do you need it for the weekend? If you decide to go, please be careful.

What state do you live in again? You must be QLD or NSW - I just can't remember which.

I didn't take the sleeping tablet last night. I reduced the ap - still took it with the anti anxiety med, which is what the psychiatrist has directed me to do. He says the combination of the two helps people sleep. To be honest, I've developed such a tolerance to the anti-anxiety med, I don't think it works of a night time. I took extra melatonin and some how managed to fall asleep ok, only waking a few times during the night. I was mentally tired y'day.

I'm trying my best to keep to the allowed amount of anti-anxiety med each day, but that's a challenge with my crying outbursts. I predict that it will be a few months before I'm totally off that med, or able to just use it as a prn.

Have woken a bit twitchy and anxious, but that's nothing new. I'll reduce the ap med again tonight and by Monday hopefully have stopped. I hate it so much!!! You understand why.

Good Morning to @Anastasia @Eve7 @Bow & @Emelia8 (again ) I hope you've all had a good start to your day - Happy Friday!!

I'm off to the Osteopath soon, to get some relief for my back/rib pain - hopefully.

Hugs,

L & Levi
