I am struggling at the moment

I am struggling at the moment

I don't know why I am really writing this. There seems to be part of me which says that I need to pull my head in and do this alone and another part who so desperately wants to reach out for help. I am really struggling. I'm not coping at all. For much of the day I've thought about all the reasons to die and there are hundreds. There is also one reason to live that keeps me here. I can't let down my oldest son and cut out his trip of a lifetime. He would have to come home and pick up all the pieces for everyone. I keep telling myself I have to hold on until he comes back and then I can let go but this keeps me waiting to die not choosing to live. I have a cold sore that now goes from the corner of my eye the length of my nose and it's slowly creeping across my face from stress. It started on Wednesday and each morning I wake to find more of my face engulfed by it. I am so tired. I am so sorry to write this and I know I'm so lucky to have friends on here that care. I don't want anyone to have to deal with this as it is so depressing so I started this thread as a way of saying that I'm not well when writing here and please don't feel obliged to read or respond.

Re: I am struggling at the moment

@Decadian Thank you so much. I guess that's the beauty about the forum in that we all definitely learn from each other in real time. And then get to support each other mostly in real time too. I'm really pleased to hear you are feeling like you are sorting some things though therapy. I wish you well for Monday and hope you find the way forward in coming to terms with your ailing uncle. 💜😊🤗💐🤗🤗🤗🤗

@Former-Member Thanks. The funny thing I always see everyone on hear doing it so much better than me with more difficulties than me. I really often feel like the weak link on here. I also want to thank you for using the words 'space cadetish' which cracked me up as I use that saying a lot. I really hope the space cadet leaves soon but if you're like me it's a bit of a label that sticks 😝😊😂💜🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗

really feeling huggy today🤗

Thanks @Former-Member

Working in therapy is work - and only the bravest people take it on.

And yes- it is beautiful how people help each other here

Re: I am struggling at the moment

CG or no CG - We are all just living our lives with MI. I don't always disclose when or how I'm doing it tough. As my main concern at the moment is my old friend and what he will disclose when we meet. I'm not normally so anxious every second of the day. So you this is a new experience for me. And I'm frfrustrated because I'm impatient and I'm notin ccontrol of this situation. He needs to be in control to be trusting enough to share with me.
The reason I'm mentioning this to you now is bec I don't want you to feel that you are doing worse than others here. We all have issues and demons to deal with. Yours may be harder than mine - purely because I don't have your MI.
We are all just trying to cope the best we can.
And you b have always supported me beautifully when I've needed help.
I think your course will be a great thing for you. Just remember to go easy on yourself.

Hi @Former-Member

So sorry to hear you were feeling so distressed last night

How are you tonight- did you get a phone call today?

Re: I am struggling at the moment

Hi @utopia,

im sorry I missed your last post here. I've been a bit lazy relying on emails and occasionally checking last posts. Perhaps your putting the same pressure on yourself for your friend that we both have over the last few weeks with the CG stuff. It's the same but different if you get what I mean. I would be anxious and petrified of saying the wrong thing too. At the end though all you can be is your same beautiful self. If you say the wrong thing I'm sure you'll find a way to say the right thing shortly after. You always find a genuine way of connecting and supporting. I saw an apology you wrote today which was whole hearted, that's all anyone can ask for. You need to trust yourself because you have so much to offer. Just being present with him and listening will mean the world to him I'm sure. I hope this helps. Sending you reassuring hugs 🤗🤗🤗💜😊

Re: I am struggling at the moment

Hi @Former-Member. How was your day? I've thought of you today.

The psychiatrist was sick today so my therapist couldn't speak to him but we decided I needed to stay on my medications. She helped out a bit but mostly I was just miraculously a bit better today. I've had a day of just trying to pull my life together a bit. I start at TAFE at 9:00am tomorrow and I guess I've been focussed on that. I talked to my phams worker too and sorted a few things out with her.

As from Monday I'll have a set activity everyday so I think that will help. I think I feel a bit relieved to stay on my medication for now. It seems like the wrong time to change. He wanted me to be on a more sedating medication and I was scared of being too flattened by that. I guess only time will tell. At the end of the term I'll be at a loss with very few weekly commitments and then I can change medication if needed.

Was it today you saw your specialist. How did it go?

Re: I am struggling at the moment

Good to hear from you @Former-Member . I had been thinking of you too today..

For some reason last night I thought you would feel better today. I am glad your therapist was able to give you some support today and was there for you yesterday too. How long will tafe go tomorrow, and I hope you do well this term.

I think you should do what you feel comfortable doing, and I guess you still feel you haven't gelled with him. I can't give any advice around the medication.

I think its good that you set yourself something everyday I have tried to do some of the things I did at hospital at home. Each day we did a beach walk and I try to do my walk every day at the same time just like I did in hospital.

I did see my specialist today, she has been my Dr since 1998, so I have know her quite a long time. I didn't feel I got a lot out of the session today. I am just feeling a bit lost tonight and a bit disheartened from seeing her today.

I'm not sure what I am up to tomorrow but I mite go into Brisbane on the train and just out for the day.

Re: I am struggling at the moment

@Former-Member. Yes I noticed I forgot to put your name on the post. Sorry.
I think you are right with regards to me putting pressure on myself re; my old friend.
I actually got a call back from CASA today re: advice for supporting someone who has been abused. I know I simply have to genuinely listen and let him have his say. But I just know I'm going to cry when he tells me & I was worried that this would stop him talking or hurt him more. The CASA worker explained that it's ok for me to cry - as it is an acknowledgement of his pain and his story. So that was a huge relief.
I've been pretty good since my - let's fall over into the unmentionables - last night & finally seem to be releasing some of that anxiety.
Thank you for understanding how I'm feeling.

Re: I am struggling at the moment

ESorry just had a shower and washed my hair @Former-Member. I'm trying to be organised. I have really long thick hair that usually takes a couple of hours to dry so washing it always has to be well planned which is not my forte.

Im sorry you feel a bit disillusioned from your appointment today. I hate that feeling when you set yourself up to sort some things out and you come out feeling like nothing's changed or sorted. I think I have a few sessions like that. Perhaps doing something nice tomorrow will be a good thing. I like the way you kept routines from hospital. That's a good idea and takes lots of self discipline- good for you 💜😊.

I only have two more visits with the psychiatrist and then he moves on and I get the next registrar. I think I'm coming to accept that I just need to rely on my therapist for now. TAFE is only for 3 hours in the morning. It's been a long time since I've had to concentrate for that long. It's a bit scary. I think it will be ok though.

Take care of you tonight. Try not to let you appointment today worry you, it happens. You are doing well. I hope you sleep well. I have to go to bed soon as I have to be there by 9:00am which is very scary. Catch you tomorrow, sending comforting hugs🤗🤗🤗 💜😊🤗
