I am struggling at the moment

I am struggling at the moment

I don't know why I am really writing this. There seems to be part of me which says that I need to pull my head in and do this alone and another part who so desperately wants to reach out for help. I am really struggling. I'm not coping at all. For much of the day I've thought about all the reasons to die and there are hundreds. There is also one reason to live that keeps me here. I can't let down my oldest son and cut out his trip of a lifetime. He would have to come home and pick up all the pieces for everyone. I keep telling myself I have to hold on until he comes back and then I can let go but this keeps me waiting to die not choosing to live. I have a cold sore that now goes from the corner of my eye the length of my nose and it's slowly creeping across my face from stress. It started on Wednesday and each morning I wake to find more of my face engulfed by it. I am so tired. I am so sorry to write this and I know I'm so lucky to have friends on here that care. I don't want anyone to have to deal with this as it is so depressing so I started this thread as a way of saying that I'm not well when writing here and please don't feel obliged to read or respond.

@Former-Member. I'm sorry you are struggling so much at the moment. I really wish there was something I could do to help.
I have to say - by looking at the responses on this post - there are a lot of us who are sending you strength.
May tomorrow be easier, and the next day & the next.

What do people do when they are at total breakdown point and need respite from their home and circumstances?

an emergency shelter maybe?

a friend used to get committed (not voluntary)by her sister when things totally off rails. she's dead now, poor bugger.

Hey @Former-Member

You know your days out in the car ? I do different versions of that ... just spend the day out of home.

I used to have to take D2 with me, cos there was nobody to leave her with. Used to pack up some activities for her, a lunch, and go hang out somewhere ....

One day, with enough petrol money, I drove two hours to another town .... had lunch there, then drove back to pick up the kids from school. They had no idea, and neither did WH.

Libraries are free, and have music with headphones sometimes. Lots of quiet corners, books, magazines.

There's food courts in shopping centres, especially when it's not lunch time ... mid afternoon is often quiet.

Then there's parks and playgrounds if it's not too cold and wet, but it sounds like it is over your way at the moment.

And a favourite was / is to pack up the iron and a basket of ironing, and go to my girlfriend's house for all-day coffee .... whether we got any ironing done or not ....

❤️

Have you looked up emergency respite services ?

Re: I am struggling at the moment

I dunno heaps of different ways .. it will also be what is particular to your psyche, triggers and reasons

Fighting is part of the problem @Former-Member

it actually lays down or intensifies the neural pathway or something ... so it gets stronger.

The best approach for me was to gruding ly accept them ... not deny or fight ... or their you are teasing me again

but sometime I am just P**d like tonight in the city I was fuming ... (choir story doesnt matter to this)

I was almost daring the cars.. talk about PEDESTRIAN rage ... dont mess with me when I am in a stink

outside of the cathedral ... one car ... was going to move and i looked at him like do you thnk I bloody care .. just try and run me over ..

I also drove in peak hour traffic for an hour ... so I must have been hyper switched on

SI

is related to life force and anger ... anger to keep us safe not to turn against us .. we cant deny our anger ... gardening digging .. running walking ... playing fiery spanish music on the piano

anger is intense ... its got to be a mix of ways ... first I promised not to SH in my new home with my boy ...

I succeeded in that. Its been 15 years ... I still struggle with SI ... but I kind of think I am over the hump.

Cos I dont really think I want to suicide anymore ... but its remnants and old thought patterns that haunt me... so I am not as scared as I used to be.

Dunno if that helps .. its just straight off the top of my head.

YOU need to take up an interest ... you havent mentioned anything you do ... you have to do more of the stuff that is good for you ... it might take a while to actually FEEL better ... it took a few years for me ... but that way you create new thought patterns ... new habits .. and may even find some fun in life.

Please take care @Former-Member

Re: I am struggling at the moment

Seems to me that SH and SI thoughts are well-intentioned, but mis-guided and totally off the mark ..... is that what you're saying @Appleblossom ? That you can acknowledge them, but then dismiss them as the illness talking ....

We do that with strangers who give back-handed compliments - well-intentioned but wrong .... nod in their direction but not build our lives around their opinions ....

Sounds a lot grief ... taking gentle and on-going action to dull the pain and quieten down the voice to a background whisper.

Be brave @Former-Member .... take up some of the options to distract .... including time out and about in your car if that's what works .... but tell those thoughts to pipe down cos you're busy living !!

Re: I am struggling at the moment

Thank you @Appleblossom, @Faith-and-Hope. I'm still here but probably won't be able to post for a while. I'm seriously messed up and may head to hospital soon. I've been trying so hard not to but I'm not sure I can get through on my own. Much of me fighting this hard to stay here is because of you both and others on the forum. 💜😊
