Hi everyone .... good morning .... 😊💕
@Former-Member .... yeah ... has your Lady Godiva moment passed ? Got some clothes available now re washing .... ? My S2 is being a Mr Godiva .... waiting until all his clothes need washing, then saying he can't go anywhere cos he can't get dressed .... 😏
While eratic, anxious and controlling wasn't my mother, I have seen it in our people's mum's, including MIL, and apparently my grandmother (mum's mother) was like that .... and she swung back to the opposite in response. Keep steady @Former-Member .... I keep trying to tell WH that if he keeps trying to come in and take over the kids personal management, they will struggle to develop their own emotional strength and maturity, and confidence in their own decision-making ..... sound familiar ? 🤔💜
Keep putting order in place even just in tiny dribs n drabs, and your mum will have no excuse to invade and control. That is my answer to my kids too ... instead of rebelling against that controlling influence, remove its power over you by setting your own standards, making them different so they are your own, and you're not feeling like you've been pressed out of a mold ..... but remove their excuses to be invasive ... 👍🏼✅
It took me quite some time, several years, with MIL to work out how to "block and secure" ..... block her invasive action and secure my own control over the situation .... ✅
She used to try to feed my kids lollies, lollies, chips and lollies so I began to refer to them as "party food" and confiscate them from the kids in front of her, putting them into a high cupboard, and bringing them out at family birthdays to share with a much greater number of people ....✅ .... annoyed the h#ll out of her enough to stop giving openly ....
Then began the "behind mum's back cos she won't let me give them to you" battles .... so my kids' values education started very early. I gave them permission to bring me things that they knew g'mother shouldn't be giving them, and left it to them to follow thru .... ✅ .... reckon they didn't bring me everything, but what they kept for themselves would have been the reasonable amount she should have been giving them in the first place ... ✅ .... and even then it would have been tainted with guilt cos it was made secretive instead of celebratory .... ✅
And this was something else I pointed out to them progressively .... but by then they could see their dad's b.e.d. issues very clearly, and I had to cue them about other, different kids of "party food" that shouldn't be your mainstay diet ...:face_with_rolling_eyes:
At this point in time I can see that I have generally succeeded ✅❣but it was a walk in faith at the time.
That's my blah this morning ... hope it's helpful to you in some way .... ❤️💕🌷
@Pepsimax .... I'm an arty type ..... craft rocks ❣😀
