First time

First time

I've recently signed up because I've heard that forums can help and im running out of options

I've been battling severe depression/anxiety for the past 6months

I feel like a completely different person

I feel like I've lost my personality, I can't remember things, I've lost desire to do anything at all

I feel like there is something wrong with my brain to the point where I have been getting MRI's & CT scans in hope something would show up

of course all the test come back normal

My Psychiatrist told me that I'm just depressed and has been playing with my medication as well

I feel like no one understand me

I feel like I'm going crazy

Has anyone on here experienced such bad depression where they don't feel like themselves?

I feel like I've lost my common sense

I can't think straight at all

I used to be the best in my industry of work and now I can barely get to work

when I'm doing anything I feel like my brain is sleeping and I can't wake it up

Re: First time

Hi @Shine32 ...I hear your fear and desperation. I was wondering, how long has it been since your meds were increased? I'm wondering if they are yet to kick in fully...that could mean that some improvement would be on the way.

As for working, I couldn't do it when I was that bad. 😞 I know that's not very encouraging for you 😞

Hi Shine32,

Peregrinefalcon here, another one of the forum moderators.

It sounds like you are experiecing a really challenging time at the moment. It is great you are reaching out and seeking support from the forum 🙂

As the forums are not a crisis service and sometimes it can take a while for members to respond, I just want to make sure you know that if you require additional support, or are experiencing a crisis, to please phone a service such as Lifeline (13 11 14), Suicide Callback Service (1300 659 467), or 000 if it is an emergency.

Take care,

Peregrinefalcon

I'm really sorry to hear. This happened to me, and I had to rebuild my life. All I can offer is a listening ear and some understanding of what you're going through. It was the worst time of my life so far.

Can I ask to hear more about what you experienced and how long it took you to get better

Re: First time

OK, @Shine32 ...

My severe depression took years, and I was intensely suicidal for most of that time. I wasn't able to work or anything. I also was hardly able to sleep. I was seeing my GP weekly for part of that time, to get me through. I was on an anti-depressant from the GP, but it turned out not to be strong enough. I was trying to find a counsellor, but none of them 'fit'.

Then I got a psychiatrist at the end of that time. I actually had to wait 3 months to get in to see her, at a time when I was extremely suicidal. But the CATT team had changed my meds to something stronger, and when I did get in to see her, she upped the dose as high as I could go and also started me on a sleeping tablet. I also started talk therapy with her. All of those things started making me feel a lot better. But since then it's taken years of talk therapy to gain the healing that I've had.

I'm not sure how encouraging any of that is... @Shine32
