Something’s not right

issue with my co-worker/friend

issue with my co-worker/friend

I am really annoyed and angry with my co-worker/friend. She has 3 children, one married and other two with partners. She has a beautiful home, 3 cars, a boat, a caravan. Always going away and she loves to brag. She will go on and on and on about something she has done to the point that i just shut out because i am so sick of listening to her.

she thinks and keeps telling me, 'oh why don't you cut back work and do 3 days". I say to her no i can't financially. I'm not like her where I can just drop a day and work 3 days.

There are so many things that she doesn't need to pay for - her husband has a company car therefore no insurance, petrol or registration for that car. and on weekends she will drive it.

Everything she has or does is grand. Lately i am so over listening to her talk about her own stuff, where she is going next year for her holiday and how she and her husband will retire very soon she is 49 he is 50.

I sometimes think that she has no clue on how other people live. she seems to think that people have the same amount of money like her.

we are living at the moment pay to pay, fortnight to fortnight. we are not well off, we are just living.

it really irks me so much with this person. last week it was her birthday and for the next 2 days all i heard was how many gifts she received and what she got. then it angers and irritates me and i feel so down and degraded because i have nothing.

and every single time i am quiet and don't want to talk at work or pissed off with her, she will come up to me and say 'what's wrong' and instead of me saying 'oh it's you, you are annoying me' i turn around and say 'oh it's just me', it's nothing it's just me. Then i walk away and am more angry with myself because at times i want to say something but i always blame myself.

To be honest I don't see that she is doing anything wrong. I'm in my 30s and have payed off my mortgage, on my home 5 minutes from the city, which allows me to have investment prporties, share portfolio's, travel, buy designed clothes etc etc. Why do I have to hide it. I too plan to retire at 50. I worked hard in my 20s (60 - 70 hrs a week, shift work) to allow me the flexibility now.

You don't have to be friends with her. But would would you think of someone if they chose not to be friends with you because of your financial situation.

HelloAgain,
I think the point is - not the co-workers financial status - but that she does not stop talking about it.
