Ha ha, yeah amazing that I somehow managed to miss you @Eve7 . Umm, just check back to my earlier post as I posted some pics. Nothing identifying, so should come through. The record crowd was over 112K actually. It was a great night of athletics. The 5000 meters was great. The triple jump was just below us and the womens pole vault was exciting too. Ahhh ... yes, good times.

My pictures are too identifying @Emelia8 and I’d better not say any more about those games or I will let something slip.
Your photos are great and they were a wonderful OG...the best ever.
❤️💛💚💙🖤

I understand @Eve7 .. not a problem.
The best Games ever ... I think we've heard that a few times over the years. 😊 But its pretty accurate. In fact .....
The fourth evening of the athletics program at the Sydney Olympics in 2000 is still considered “the greatest night of track and field in the history of the sport”.
This was the honour accorded “Magic Monday” – September 25, 2000 – by officials of the International Amateur Athletics Federation during the Games.

Do you know there was a “technical hitch” at the pole vault just as Cathy’s race was about to start? It was fixed once Cathy had run...then all eyes were on Tatiana!! @Emelia8
I have that write up from the IAAF in my scrapbook. Feels like another life

Ha ha ... Yes I did hear later @Eve7 . My husband was particularly taken with Tatiana Gregoriava, the pole vaulter. She had a nice rose tattoo if I recall correctly. Her silver medal performance was riveting.

I could reminisce about those games all night @Emelia8 not long until Tokyo but it will be very different...no cheers, no beers!

Yes, Eric the eel won our hearts too. My only complaint was not being able to stay awake 24/7 lol
