Me...my existential crisis..this thing called Red Centaur

Me...my existential crisis..this thing called Red Centaur

To explain me right now would be too difficult. I have pretty much shut down and my brain and body is malfunctioning on many levels. I cant keep a straight process of intelect and words come out wrong and fast and I get angry myself that its all wrong. You write this took a long time, no filter between thumb and mind.
I thought that finally seeing a psychologist to face my ED head on would be the start of something good. But it brought up memories and triggers I didn't realise I had. The first few sessions going over my past and my behaviours has triggered a switch in my brain screaming 'I can't cope with this'.
The dietician and psychologist are challenging the very core of myself and it is a part of me that has to eventually die for me to actually live. So its screaming out saying I'm going to take you dowb with me.
And with the stress and trauma reactions im having on top of my existential crisis I have ceased to function and been in a constant state of danger to myself and then yesterday a danger to those around me.
I am not coping. I feel like all I can do is my behavioursto calm down which I 'know' will make things worse. But I cant stop shaking so I get scared and inflict harm to myself because that is what I know.
Challenging the behaviours I rely on has brought them to a head. I am trying to let them go so they are holding on so tightly until they finally fall I hope instead of strangling me and taking me down with them.
I feel at a cross road. I either decide to be my behaviours and let them rule me or I say no and become a person I do not know but desperately want to meet.

Thank you so much for supporting me lately. I havent been much help to you all so I am sorry.

I saw my case manager today and showed her my post (not on the forum, copied it to a document for confidentiality) she tells me I'm doing ok, that I'm strong and that I'm doing this.

I am facing going to a treatment centre in Melbourne for my eating disorder and that prospect is terrifying me. I didn't realise was that sick. I know I wanted to go to treatment before covid hit, but now I'm too scared. It's going to be about 6 weeks before borders open and I can go. So I have time to prepare to go. Part of me wants to get as sick as possible so I'm valid enough for treatment. But after what my CM and dr are telling me I guess I am.

Im 27, it's time I finally kick my bulimia. When I spoke to my psychologist about going to treatment she was positive about it. Says it could really help. Says I can do a lot of work in the next 6 weeks so I'm ready for the changes treatment will force me to make.

Wow, @The-red-centaur ...that's a lot to take in, especially being threatened with a hospital admission. I'm glad you have about 6 weeks or so to prepare for the ED clinic. You sounded brave and positive in your update...I know it will be up and down though. We will be here for your journey.

And there's no need to worry about supporting others...just take care of you. ❤

@The-red-centaurLike the others said. Do not worry about "helping others" at the moment. That may happen in the future, but now is really the time for lots of focussed self care. Work with your team. If they are good they will be careful of your limits.

I currently have a good physio and she gets it. She tells me she has a good understanding of when the pain is too much, and only pushes very gently, but is working well to build up my strength and balance my twisted out of shape muscles.

Take Care. Its worth it.

Re: Me...my existential crisis..this thing called Red Centaur

I hope you are feeling well. Take a deep beath, place all your focus on filling your incredible lungs with fresh oxygen. Take a few moments or as long as you need to really channel your breath and bring your thoughts to your body as a functioning, living, amazing thing. It's ok to be in the present moment, I know how hard of a journey it is to begin and to get through, allow yourself time to listen to your body. If you can be strong in the moment, you will be strong for the future. Take it one step at a time, it is extremely overwhelming changing everything all at once especially thought pattern. It sounds like you have a good head on your shoulders and a strong mind, ED does not define you. The more you start acknowledging your triggers and weaknesses to more power you have to bring the person you really are back to life. Support is on your side, and you have nothing to fear. The time now will be difficult but you will look back on this and gain such a respect and admiration for yourself.

Wish you well xx

Re: Me...my existential crisis..this thing called Red Centaur

I'm sorry I never really replied to anyone here.

My existence seems meaningless.
I was speaking to my case manager today about how I feel like 'red' is just this 'thing,' nothing more. They are there to be used or hurt for other peoples pleasure or happiness.
My therapist told me yesterday to imagine my future/healthy self but I can't. I can't see past this 'thing'ness and I can't see a future where I deserve self love or self worth or to do the things that the body needs or wants or I don't see a future where this red has something of value in them.
I feel like I don't even deserve to post this or post on the forum anymore because I take and feel too lost amongst this place to give back to the people that matter here.

Where is centaur. Where is me in the messed up, broken creature that defies the laws of natural selection......Who are they, Or are they just their pain.

Hi The-red-centaur

Your existence is not meaningless. You are a valued contributor to the Forums and have so much to offer in life although your monkey mind is telling you otherwise right now.

It is so great that you have reached out to the Forums to express how you are feeling. Things have been tough going for you but with the right supports and help, centaur will be back.....Baby steps, bit by bit, in the right direction and I hope that things will look up for you.

We would love for you to share some of your artwork with us. You are very talented on that front. Artwork is a very powerful thing and can help us move our mind off not so good thoughts.

You do matter to us. Sending you lots of positive energy this evening.

Mika
