Another day ...

Another day ...

Here I go again. I wake up every day feeling sick in the stomach about the day ahead.
People talk about life being too short and so wonderful but for me it's quite the opposite.
I've tried everything but nothing changes.
I'm 46 years of age and this has been going on my whole life, I'm exhausted with it all.

Re: Another day ...

Hello! I'm new on here. 😊 I understand Marylouise. I get exhausted also. I am the type of ooerson who likes to achieve and most days I only have energy to get through the day doing the basics. I'd love to do fun things, travel etc, but anxiety takes over, then I'm exhausted.
I've isolated myself from people/friends, because it's so hurtful that they don't understand and I feel that I have to pretend I'm ok. But that's too draining and I'd rather be alone than be hurt by them.
Looking for someone who understands. I've poured my heart out to a couple of people in the past few months, hoping for some understanding and support from them. Big mistake. Not once have they asked if I'm ok.
Hiding from everyone at the moment.

Re: Another day ...

I believe for alot of people life is endured rather than enjoyed.

I havent really enjoyed life in probably over a decade, and most of it stems from social comparison.

Other people don't have MI, I do; Other people have lots of friends, I don't; Other people have socially significant jobs that they enjoy doing, I don't; Other people have intimate companion, I don't; Other people don't struggle with their weight and stay relatively thin easily, I don't; etc. etc.

I suppose envy and jealousy are too major issues that I struggle with when I dont count my own blessings and start counting others. This has caused me to view myself, my life and relationship to the rest of the world in a negative way. I have tried to stop the comparison, and focus on doing my own personal best. It is easier said than done. I've also Tried to write out things for which I am greatful for, which is not hard to do and with a little thought can become a long list. My problem is that I keep comparing my behind the scenes life, with other peoples highlight reel.

I suggest you write out a list of all the things you can be thankful for and start with the most basic of things such as a roof over your head and being able to eat everyday...By the time you get done with a rough draft of a list, you might realize that you are very fortunate. Anyways, it usually works for me, I hope it works for you too.

🙂

I have alot to be grateful for. 😀
Having good health and energy would be a bonus.

Re: Another day ...

It's hard for me because most of the people in my world are quite well off and enjoy many of life's luxuries such as regular holidays, nice clothes, nice cars, beauty treatments etc. I try to be happy for them but the thing is I want these things too and as a single mum of 1 teenagers I want it for them as well.
I do try and look in the other direction and be thankful for all that I have got and o feel terrible for getting so down about my lot. I don't share my feelings with friends and family as I know they would not understand.
In fact I find my self bottling up a lot of feelings and emotions for fear of further alienating my self. This is probably partly why I get overwhelmed and exhausted at times

Feel free to chat Marylouise. Bottling things up will make you feel worse. It is exhausting. I hope that you feel that you can be honest on here. I think it will help you. 😊

That's great that you haven't drank for 8weeks 5 days. It's not easy stopping, Utopia. 😀
Glad you're feeling better.

Re: Another day ...

I am 49 and also feel life is pointless. I had a professional job, a house, friends, etc, tried to do it all in my 20's. Now I have nothing and I don't see any point in going on.

Re: Another day ...

Hi @Cuddlepie

would you like to talk about that journey, it must have been a painful one?

What's a normal day like for you now, and what gives you the drive to get up each day and continue?

I'm guessing there's an internal strength that has pulled you through

Re: Another day ...

@Cuddlepie I'm so sorry to read this. You say you did it all in your 20's. What did you do ? What gave you pleasure.
Riding a bike always makes me happy.. I remember riding as a kid and I have ridden on and off over the years. I recently purchased a new ( second hand ) road bike and joined a club that go on extended rides regularly. The people Uve met are very friendly and inclusive.
