Re: New Here

Hi @Molly & hi @riley. Glad you two have found each other ti talk to sometimes people share what happened that day. Good or bad. If they had a trigger that caused great upset or confusion. Some people with share stories and we don't judge. Just here to give some ideas von what ee have been through. Things / techniques that might help you get over your next hurdle. We all come from different backgrounds. Sone of us have different MI to others. Some have been long time survivors. Others are just leaning how to connect with people who won't judge you.
I hope to see you both on the forum again. But I have to go, sleeping tablets kicking in. Night all

Re: New Here

@riley. Yes I do have the good moments but they are not as often as I would like. I tend to feel that my past has become my present and at times that it will become the future. I would like to change that but don't seem to be able to break the cycle.

Sorry I didn't reply sooner. Fell asleep, and gotta take whatever sleep I can get.

Re: New Here

@Molly Morning, I know what you mean. I often feel the same, If Im not feeling good I reflect on the past and it hurts or project to the future and that hurts too. Sometimes though when I am happy in the present I know I am not my past or future but the person I am right now. This helps me a little in the tough times. For me MI or as I have been diagnosed with a major depressive disorder is about the tough times going on for to long but I am hopeful I will start to feel better. I think also forgiveness is a big part of healing and the most important person to forgive is ourselves.

Re: New Here

Hi Molly. I just joined now. I'm also a surviver of rape, physical and emotional abuse. I have struggled most of my life with PTSD and various health issues. Although I'm alot better, I find it very frustrating not being able to achieve what I'd like to achieve, due to extreme fatigue etc.
I am finding it difficult to have friendships due to their lack of understanding.
Do you find it the same with people?
Hoping to find someone who understands. 😀

Re: New Here

Hi Bridget,

Your words really resonate with me. Thank you for sharing.

i am struggling enormously with people these days. In the last couple of years as I have turned my focus to dealing with my past I have lost a number of close and long term friends. People tell me that if they couldn't be there for me I am better off without them...but it is very lonely.

i can have friendships that are superficial because they don't know me, and I have to hide who I am and how I feel....or I can be alone as people don't understand. It is very hard and very lonely.

right now I am trying to focus on getting myself to a better place, but it would be easier with people that understand.

Molly

Re: New Here

Thanks for replying. I try to stay away from people who know me, because I'm embarrassed that I'm still struggling. Everyone seems so fake. They say they care, but never show it. Too hurtful. I'm also working on my health, eating well etc. It's been a long slow journey. Hoping to get well enough to travelm

Re: New Here

Don't be embarrassed that you are working through things. Everyone's journey is unique. True rinds will accept and support, but regardless you need to keep making yourself the priority. Sounds like you are focusing on the right things. Good on you.

Where do you want to travel?

Re: New Here

Oh gosh, so many places, haha! Scandinavia, USA, Canada. Skiing. Seems hopeless at the moment, but I'm determined to get well.

Re: New Here

Something to aim for is always good. You will get there.

I note in the other thread that you said you didn't deal with you abuse/rape until many years had passed. Why did it take so long to tackle it? What made you address it in the end? If you don't mind me asking...
