Help- thoughts are swamping me

Help- thoughts are swamping me

Hey.

I never know which thread to post in and previously have just found a random place to go.

Mum struggling. Struggling bad tonight. My head races.

I don’t think I can go to work but then I also don’t have an option really.

Anxiety over everything I do- to the point where even a single thing I throw out I’m thinking- is it plastic, is it waste why did I make this landfill am I worth that?

It sound seriously ridiculous but that’s how my thoughts have been travelling. I want to quit work but then my brain tells me no I must keep work! If I loose my job then I will never get back into the work force but keeping my job means I’m A wreck every night before work.

Single mumma bear of two kids and even tonight one babe refused to go to sleep!!!

Hoping someone is around to reply

It comes and goes. Last two weeks I have been a wreck before work. Crying and just struggling before hand.
I get there and feel confident in my work but then the documentation side of things I’m falling behind so badly. And then I start a cycle that’s not helpful all over again.

Today I got lumped with training a casual agency. Whilst it us a great honour to be asked to do that I just felt as though it was unappreciated. I know that the current climate of things doesn’t help either. Too much stress for my little shell to hold up 🐢

It is an honour @mudsum but I can also see it as a burden when you are swamped with other things.

Do we need some super glue to hold that shell on? I can virtually supply that for you...

@mudsum I'm a little like that with work as well. I especially struggle on weekends thinking about returning to work.
Most often in the mindset of I should just quit. But then not quitting because I need to work. Constant internal battle.

@JayL
Oh yes yes yes. That is exactly the dilemma.
What do you do for work if you don’t mind sharing.
There’s the constant battle I could write an essay for both keeping working and quitting work.
Not sure I’ve seen you around before. I only get ok the forums every now and then. But needles to say this is a now time.

@Zoe7
Haha superglue!!! Definitely.
I read your posts and I think you are amazing. Your empathy and ability to describe things for others is truely a gift. And yes I know these most precious gifts come through our own hard yards but just wanted to say so.

I work in healthcare @mudsum. It's not that I dislike my job but sometimes it can be very stressful and I sometimes don't handle stress very well.
I do have days where I cry the night before work. But try and take medication to calm myself down before it gets to that point.

Ahh I'm quite new to the forums

awww @mudsum How to make a little flutterby's night - that is incredibly sweet of you - thank you so much ...one amongst many here and happy to contribute and support when I can

How is that shell holding up? I can also supply some duct tape for smaller patches or to completely cover your shell for added protection 😁

@JayL Work is a hard one. I am the opposite - it gives me a break from my thoughts and the busier I am the better I feel. The alternative though is I fatigue easily when I am constantly running on empty and there is the added worry of falling back into the darkness quickly. I do however have a better work-life balance at present - which is interesting because we are doing way more at work because of isolation. It is full on but once I get home now I have less to do than I used to. I also spend longer days at work though - a pay off to have some time to myself when I get home.

You might be quite new to the forum @JayL but I have seen you around a bit and supporting people - it is great to have you here

Re: Help- thoughts are swamping me

@mudsum I sometimes just need to keep internally reminding myself that I'm doing the best I can and I'm doing a great job.

Sometimes it's just the thoughts going round and round and me upsetting myself.

Re: Help- thoughts are swamping me

@Zoe7 the key is definitely work life balance.
I find that I fall into a pattern where I work to escape then something goes wrong at work and I spiral downward as it feels like all things are going wrong. Especially now with the pandemic where I'm hyper focused on either work or staying at home. It makes it quite easy to lose persepctive of things.

But yeah at the end of the day I keep reminding myself it is just a job. Keeping calm and happy is the important thing.

Been there, done that, got the t-shirt @JayL lol When we have one thing go wrong in one area it takes a lot of strength to not let it destroy us in other areas. I am really lucky to have a wonderful team at work who are all very supportive - so it is not just a job but a nice place to work. I enjoy my job (mostly) but also love my time at home. Luckily I am a home body so this isolation doesn't affect me as much as it does others.
