Re: I've been labelled as treatment resistant schizophrenic

Re: I've been labelled as treatment resistant schizophrenic

@Zoe7 I guess what I'm trying to say is I have done my rounds to make sure what I have heard in person just is backed up by others during phone calls to to certain organisations across Australia. I also have phone recordings of what happened in the mental health centre where I was treated. I also spoke to medical doctors in person that came full forth with their experiences of the system they working every day. So this isn't just a few people this is now many. I was shocked and couldn't believe what I was hearing and if I heard this from someone else for the first time I probably wouldn't believe it either. My frustration for the broken system we have today can sometimes be hard eating for people and I don't like to put people down, no one is perfect. I just have a hard time believing in two week short term study or a two month so called term study to say they are just better than placebo when ppl take them longer than that. And also placebo can be great the studies have also shown this. But then the medication starts to flatten out and you have to take more. Dr's mainly look at the 2 month study because they have been designed by drug companies that make money to publish them. Unfortunately they don't publish the ones that didn't work out because it looks better on paper. The proper long term studies get hidden in PubMed and out side of the journals and they are not good. That's where the disease kicks in. Many Dr's don't look at all the data because they don't have the time, it's the sad truth.

@s-jay thank for your hard work.

@krs - thank you for your apologies. It is much appreciated. As are the links. I am quite interested in some of them.

@krs Rather than reading and accepting Glenn Floyds made up assumptions from the ABS on Mortality of People Using Mental Health Services and Prescription Medications, Analysis of 2011 Data here is the link to the actual ABS report https://www.abs.gov.au/ausstats/abs@.nsf/Lookup/by%20Subject/4329.0.00.006~Analysis%20of%202011%20data~Main%20Features~Persons%20who%20accessed%20MBS%20and%20or%20PBS%20subsidised%20mental%20health-related%20treatments%20in%202011~2

Re: I've been labelled as treatment resistant schizophrenic

@Zoe7 So what makes you think it's all made up if he does the extra work to dig up the evidence that the government do not want to admit? The problem with those stats are there's so many adverse reactions that they don't bother putting in. Even Glenn Floyd's stats wouldn't be accurate because there's too many cases that weren't looked at, just too difficult. It would just go down to unexplained death or another disease. Your chances of dying from long term use of just an antidepressant go way up, heart problems would be one of them but they will just blame it on another desease. They don't even counter in how people metabolise drugs differently and have adverse reactions. When people suicide on an antidepressant, they don't blame it on the drug thay blame it on the desease which is not necessarily the case, when does that get added in? The main problem with people that have the money to try and figure it out are the same people making the money pushing the drugs. Our government trust the US too much, not so much in other countries because they have realised. Also poorer countries are doing better because they get less diagnosis and treatment yet they suffer more in poverty.

Also it is more acceptable for people to be hearing voices and it doesn't get pathologized.

@krs you are the one that brought this to our attention however you seem reluctant to actually look at the source it was taken from. As has been said before - you do not speak to the points raised and go off on other tangents in order to make arbitrary points that do not relate to the actual topic presented to you. You have said you look carefuly into the research behind things and I have presented the actual document it was taken from - as is identified in Glynn Floyds document you presented to us. Have a close look at that original source and compare it to what you have been presented by Floyd - there is no extra work that needs to be done as he directly relates to this document hiimself.

Does this ABC podcast explain my concept a bit better? I, however, don't agree with everything he has to say because there is also no evidence to say there is any genetic predisposition either apparently. And also statins are also something to be wary of, big pharma also tries and cover up serious side effects when there are natural ways to treat and people can do quite well. There's much better opinions outside of Australia but you seem to like stuff from here even though he's not from here.

Matt Ball would make much more sense of this and he has a lived experience.

About 15min in he talks about in the moment of connection Schizophrenia doesn't exist.

It will take some time for you to get your head around as it did for me, and that was my label he was talking about.

Does that explain things a little?

Re: I've been labelled as treatment resistant schizophrenic

@krs in the mid-90s when I was living in rural Victoria, one of my

neighbours was a mental health nurse, who got me thinking when he

told me that the only difference between a diagnosis of ADHD and schizophrenia,

was the age thirteen.

Re: I've been labelled as treatment resistant schizophrenic

@Jo-anneJoy unfortunately thats old news since people are now getting diagnosed with schizophrenia earlier now since the DSM-5 had come out. My cousin is a mental health nurse and my uncle is a social worker, they have to read the DSM that includes the latest one.

@Sans911

Did you see my last post? He will explain it better than I can. Australia is not up to scratch yet. I've heard many now switch out the works illness/disease with problems, It makes much more sense.
