Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

I hope you're ok @NatureLover and you and the specialist got the answers you need.

I got onto sorting and decluttering. I have more than 100 letters to go through, which is emotionally challenging. I'm interspersing it with other things.

I'll try to get into the garden more.

Good luck with your daily tasks tomorrow - 3 I think? Or do they accumulate? Mine just take longer if I've let them build up.

Thanks for your 2 kind messages, @Dimity . Luckily there were only dry coughs happening in the specialists' waiting room, and I was wearing a mask. I didn't have to undress in front of the male doctor, there was no rash, and I'm no longer allergic to penicillin!

More on the next page 🙂

Well done for overcoming your freeze / inertia and starting the decluttering. 100+ letters would be emotionally draining. That's good you're interspersing them with other things.

Is your garden displaying spring flowers?

My 3 daily tasks just take longer as I've let them slide. I've got a chance to redeem myself this weekend as I'm home all weekend.

I've had a few flowers @NatureLover but my garden is fairly drab these days. I've been neglecting it and wish I could revitalise it.

It's great you've outgrown your allergy.

I've made no progress today but went out for a while by myself. I did my quantum of housework - how about you?

No! I didn't do my 3 daily or 3 weekly tasks @Dimity 😣

I absolutely have to do them today. Today is a house-cleaning day till the house is back to inspection-ready.

Yesterday I ended up working most of the day at my volunteer job, catching up on what I'd missed by going to the hospital on Friday.

Well done on doing your chores yesterday - I'd call that progress. Or at least maintenance.

I have to prune the roses today - about 6 weeks too late! My neighbour usually does it and I've been waiting for her. I won't do it severely as I've left it so late.

Good luck today to both of us with our tasks and decluttering.

CT scan @Shaz51 I have a small tumour they're watching.

Sorry if you have neck as well as back trouble, is that arthritis and osteoporosis?I got exercises from an exercise physiologist 6 weeks ago but might need to check back with my physiotherapist.
