Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

@NatureLover I'm trying to squeeze in the plants.

I'm proud of you for not buying extra when you got your crumpets and sultanas. I sometimes look for wholemeal crumpets but rarely find them.

I had home help today. I followed her around as she was talking to me and I noticed what she was (not) doing which explains why I have to try to clean things properly myself sometimes. But after I'd vacuumed myself and moved things in preparation for steamcleaning I was in pain for days afterwards. Maybe I should just persevere and see if I can regain capacity as apparently the CHSP is going to be phased out.

Craft group... the bus ride is fine but the group not quite so, I don't feel I fit in. But it looks as though the matriarch might not be coming back. Interesting they actually remarked on how she doesn't like other people talking, so it wasn't just my imagination.

I'm feeling very unsettled. Loss of the cat and experiencing family hostility are taking a toll. And the home help was weighing in on my decluttering efforts, critically.

The wind has sprung up. I'll check the rain radar before picking up Tiger's ashes.

Good luck with your work and bag laundering.

Oh no! I'm upset for you that your home help was critical of your decluttering efforts! Especially as you've been doing so well at it. I'm sorry to hear, @Dimity 😣

What is the CHSP?

You must indeed be feeling very unsettled without Tiger. 😥 I hope you can pick up his ashes today - I can hear thunder.

I'm glad that bossy matriarch might not be coming back to your craft group. Glad also that other people validated your impressions of her.

Thanks for being proud of me! I'm due to go out for more crumpets tomorrow afternoon, but I hope to keep it to just a few items. I need to go to the chemist and the library as I have a book due back. I'm usually very organised with my meds, but have surprised myself by running out of one of my diabetes meds today.

I hope you don't get wet if you go out.

@NatureLover Commonwealth Home Support Program. It's assessed by MyAgedCare but a lower level than aged care packages. I heard It's being phased out next year.

Oh, thanks for explaining.

Do you think another programme will replace it? Or will people be left short?

Good question @NatureLover I was just looking online. It will be rolled into another scheme in June/July next year.

The rain radar suggests the bulk of the rain has finished here.

I'm glad it will continue with another scheme, @Dimity . Hopefully with no interruption for you.

Good luck with your trip out.

Thanks, @Dimity . The support button's not working again.

I've got 2 days at home now - no shopping. A little bit of work and hopefully some major cleaning up.

I had to force myself to go out yesterday to the chemist, supermarket and library. I was pleased that I managed it.

The rain has done the watering for us.

I hope your day is successful.

I've been having trouble with the support button too @NatureLover .

I'm glad you overcame your agoraphobia yesterday and can enjoy being home this weekend.

It's been quite cold. I've achieved nothing beyond the basics. It would be nice if there were good news for once.

Perhaps there is something. My Lorraine Lee rose is flowering well.

Re: Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Your rose is still flowering?! Amazing! It's been so cold.

Well done on the basics - I didn't even achieve that yesterday! Seriously have to get myself in gear - the house looks terrible.

But I get depressed when there's nothing to do for the day except housework. Then the depression makes it hard to get moving on the housework.

That's why I prefer to do a little work for my volunteer job every day - just to feel like I've achieved something. However, I'm all up to date on that.

Have you noticed any shortages in the shops? Am still worried about that.

Hope we both can achieve what we want to today...
