Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

Good luck with your respiratory specialist @NatureLover.

I haven't seen anyone since the vets left (they made a house call). I'm still tryingto clean and sort things. Gosh it's hard.

Thank you for remembering my respiratory specialist appt, @Dimity .

Did you make it to the eye specialist this week, or did the vet overtake everything else?

It must be so hard without your companion Tiger. 😥 Thinking of you and sending care.

I'm glad you finally got to the respiratory specialist @NatureLover but a bit sorry you left it so long, when you might have had help earlier when you needed it.

My eye specialist says the newest eye drops are working. He dismissed the previous problems.

I've been trying to donate my stash of catfood etc. I've contacted 9 places including major charities and animal shelters. I'm appalled I can't place a couple of hundred dollars worth that could make a real difference to people.

@Dimity yes, it would've made more sense to go to the respiratory specialist while I was still coughing. But in any case, he's changed my 2 asthma preventers and sent me for 3 tests, including an allergy blood test.

I'm sorry to hear your eye specialist dismissed your previous problems. 😣 Do you agree with him that the newest eyedrops are working?

It sounds (from your other post) that you've managed to find somewhere to donate your cat things. But what if you decide you want another cat?

It sounds as though your asthma check was worthwhile @NatureLover . Hopefully the new meds will forestall a future attack -'especially if you can identify trigger allergies.

My intraocular pressure is much lower than when I first saw the specialist, and I'm not reacting to the new drops. I'm trying not to feel angry about ongoing gaslighting about the severity of my reaction to the previous drops. I think the same active ingredient caused the blindness in one eye.

Yes I found a place that will accept the cat stuff. I'll take it there this afternoon.

I can't get another cat, I'm unlikely to outlive one and a family member told me they'd immediately put one down if anything happened to me.

Do you have any plans for the weekend?

Thanks for explaining about no new cat, @Dimity . But I'm very sorry to hear. 😥

I think you have every right to feel angry about the medical gaslighting. It had severe consequences that you have to live with every day.

I've been doing a project this weekend - typing up my whole Contacts list from my phone. Yesterday I typed 9 pages and I'm only up to L. This is a back-up for if I ever lose my phone.

I hope you are managing - you must feel very lonely without Tiger 🫂 Sending care ❤️

I'd started transcribing my contacts too @NatureLover . I need to get back to it.

You're right, I'm badly missing Tiger and am very much alone and lonely. I'm also feeling pretty bleak about losing the support worker, when for months I'd been counting on eventually having her help. I can't face trying to update my profile and readvertise..

Only a week until Easter. I hope I can pull myself together before then, I've let things slide.

Hope you have a good week.
