Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

Just what you're doing thanks @tyme. it keeps me going.

I'm not sure if you've read Bow's thread but there's a lot of forumites worried about losing touch with psws and people like yourself. I'm not sure if that means the volunteers and ordinary forumites will have to soldier on by themselves, with just a moderator.

All I can say is that I'm hearing you loud and clear. I know as much as you do @Dimity . I'll leave it at that (without meaning to be rude).

Please know I care very much for this community. I appreciate each and every single person. I know the sweat and tears it takes for some people to post, and I don't take that lightly.

Thank you @Dimity for being you. You are a valued member of the community.

Interesting book, @tyme !

What's going on with the Peer Support Workers? I'm out of touch...

Sorry you feel like a wreck, @Dimity 😥

I feel tired and fragile after yesterday's hospital trip. It turned out I wasn't tested for penicillin allergy yesterday, just an interview with the specialist and a blood test. Depending on what the blood test says I may have to go back for the penicillin test.

I just want to stay in bed today. But I have so much to do. Including work from yesterday, plus the house has got into a real mess with my stressful week last week.

Hope you feel a bit stronger today 🤞❤️

Sending you a cheerio @NatureLover . I felt like staying in bed too. I'd be happy to work with you today.

Yesterday would have stressed you, it's understandable you're tired and fragile. Hopefully the bloodtests give the answers so you don't need to go back.

After breakfast I'll do what should be daily chores, then work out where to go from there.

Sorry @Dimity , I didn't see your kind offer to work with me yesterday. Only just saw it this morning. Did you get some work done?

I ended up catching up on some volunteer work yesterday, going grocery shopping, and doing laundry and the watering. I was pleased with all that, but today I need to stay home and tackle the house.

Hope you have a positive day today.

It's good you got so much done Saturday @NatureLover .

I did a little - chores and decluttering - but not enough. I broke down yesterday afternoon, flooded by recollected family abandonment, grief and loss. But slept well last night.

I doubt I'll get much done today. I guess I should try. The cat is very plaintive at the moment, needing TLC. He's been needing meds and I hope he's recovering but I'm not sure.

@NatureLover I locked myself out and had to summon help. I'm really rattled. Maybe it's time I looked for new mh supports.

I hope you were happy with your day. Work tomorrow?

Oh no, you've had a terrible 2 days! @Dimity Locking yourself out, no wonder you were rattled. And breaking down the day before 😥🫂

And your poor cat too 😥

I really hope today is nice and calm for you.

Regarding new MH supports, I thought you were happy with your psychologist? Except she was pushing the EMDR, wasn't she, which you didn't want.

I've been having problems with my new phone freezing up, making it unable to be used 😣 Am very frustrated with technology!

No work today, but I have a psychologist appt. Yesterday I wrote the notes for it (7 pages) but did nothing much else except for laundry.

Sending care.

I trust your appt went well @NatureLover . I'm impressed at the preparation you do beforehand.

I'm uneasy about seeing the psychologist. Not only about the EMDR. She wanted to submit my family problems to ChatGPT for comments and a plan of action but I refused. And there was another red flag too i can't mention. She's personally kind and caring but I feel awkward. And I don't like the venue.

I'm utterly exhausted by the roller-coaster ride of a family member's emotional state. Yet I'm the one labelled bipolar. I do need help with it all but the counsellor has let me down too.

I'm wondering whether to go back to the gp for advice but her colleague refused to help me with mental health.

I promised myself I'd work on decluttering at least until Easter but gosh it's not easy. I'm slowly pressing on. The garden needs work too. The flowers in the backyard are quite pretty at the moment but the weeds are bad.

I haven't walked for a couple of days and miss it. But it's good to have the rain

I just realised how many "buts" there are. I should try to be more positive.

I hope you won't have to get your phone serviced or worse, replaced. Last year a friend returned an unworkable phone and bought one somewhere else.
