Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

Good luck with the kitchen bench @NatureLover . 3 bags isn't many.

Today I want to work in the garden and sort some stuff to donate.

Hi @Dimity , did you go out for a walk and get wet yesterday evening?

I've cleared the floor but not the kitchen bench yet.

Went out early for my annual diabetes fasting blood tests.

How did your work in the garden go? At least we won't have to water!

Hope you have a successful day today 🤞

Hi @NatureLover good work emptying the bags.

I enjoyed the gardening but didn't get the weeding done I'd hoped for or the inside sorting done. However I found the rain very soothing and enjoyed the quiet mindful work I did do, like ironing while listening to music. It was too wet to walk.

I hope your fasting glucose and HbA1c results are OK, and you don't need to make changes.

It looks like a lovely day. I hope you find time to enjoy it.

Thanks, @Dimity .

It sounds like you enjoyed parts of yesterday! I'm glad. 🙂

It does look like a lovely day. I'm doing little bits of work and little bits of tidying and laundry. I also finished a book yesterday, which was nice.

I hope I don't need to make changes either. It sounds like you know what you're talking about re diabetes.

I've got an awful lot of medical appts coming up over the next month or so. Yuck. A friend also messaged me to resume the dog walking.

I hope your craft group tomorrow goes well.

Hi @Dimity , I've been awake since about 1am. At 5am I gave up and got up and got a coffee. I'm not sure why this happens sometimes with my heavy-duty sleeping tablets. I do have some extra worries on my mind, so maybe that's why.

Still haven't cleared the kitchen bench. 😣 But I finished another book.

More rain today which is excellent for the trees, except for the storm / possible flood factor. You may have to miss your walk.

I hope the bullying lady at your craft group pulls her head in today and lets others participate.

Worries... that's not good @NatureLover especially if you're losing sleep over them. I trust your health is ok other than that pesky asthma.

The bossy lady cancelled today, which was a relief. I'd been pondering how to respond and whether to leave. I was very touched that another lady gave me a bag full of plant cuttings, having picked up on my mention of propagating for my garden. Most of the people are nice, and it was very reassuring.

I'll try to sort some things to donate, and maybe walk to the supermarket if the rain holds off.

Thanks, @Dimity . Yes, my health is OK - touch wood. And I caught up on sleep last night. Got more worries about making mistakes at work though.

So pleased you had such a great time at your craft group! That's great the bullying lady was away. Are you pleased with the type of plant cuttings you received?

The rain might've fined up by the time you wanted to walk to the supermarket yesterday?

Got a lunch today with people from my old job that I don't know very well, all except one. Not sure how it will go. Feeling a bit fragile and anxious due to work mistakes...where I want to just hide at home in bed. It will probably do me good to get out and get a different perspective.

I hope you enjoy deciding where to put your new plant cuttings. 🙂

I hope lunch went better than you expected @NatureLover .

I shopped very late yesterday due to the rain then the telehealth appt. But we got less than half the amount of rain forecast.

Maybe your mistakes are part of your learning curve. You're definitely aware of them, which gives you the opportunity to fix them and/or do better next time. I hope your boss is OK with you getting up to speed, it's only to be expected there'll be an induction period.

I got very little done today. I hope I can beat this ongoing fatigue.

Hi @Dimity , yes, lunch went better than expected thanks. Still a bit depressed though. Maybe need some sun?

Thanks for your encouragement about my work mistakes. I realise it's unrealistic to expect perfection of myself, but a big part of me does.

I'm sorry about your ongoing fatigue. Would it help to give your mind and body a complete day off from all tasks and pressure?

Sending care...

Are you still able to sit on your sunny verandah @NatureLover or do you need to wait on the repairs? I think you said your table was broken too.

Some days I do almost nothing but I feel better when I try to keep plugging on. Even then I don't do much. I guess it's likely to be persistent depression which has improved enough for me to notice how limiting it is.

Today I planted the little cuttings. I'm not confident they'll grow but I'll hope for the best.
