Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

Very true about making the appt @NatureLover .

Glad your IT problem is resolved - hope you're not fretting about the mistake, and work went well today.

@Appleblossom well done for trying. I wonder if your neck problems impact your vagus nerve. I don't understand the vagal theories but understand it affects mental health.

Hi @Dimity , thanks. I'm not fretting too much about the mistake I made.

It was quite dark at 6.30 this morning for my walk, sadly.

I got surprised by the respiratory specialist's receptionist when she suggested next week for an appt! That was too soon for me to have a think, so I've got an appt at the end of March.

Have you found that the support worker's visit was motivating?

I hope today goes well for you, whatever you decide to do / tackle.

Glad it's resolved. Let me know if you still have issues.

Sorry to hear you couldn't face an appt next week @NatureLover especially when you've struggled with asthma so long.

No I don't actually feel motivated by the support worker. It just feels like committing to hard yakka. I'll have to try to stay focussed. I failed miserably yesterday but got some chores done today. I realise things have been out of control since forever and it still doesn't really feel possible to get on top of it all.

I hope the darker mornings won't trigger your SAD.

Hi @Dimity , yes, I'm not sure I've done the right thing in putting off the respiratory specialist till the end of March. Oh well.

Well done on achieving the chores yesterday. I didn't get much done on the house, but I did a little work and made another bad mistake. 😣

So I want to concentrate on the house today. The long kitchen bench is full again, and there are 3 bags on the floor. Plus I need to pop out for some supermarket shopping.

You might get caught in the expected rain this evening... Good luck with your tasks today.
