Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

I hope you won't have too long to wait before you can see the respiratory specialist @NatureLover .

The helper will come Thursday.

I'm bamboozled by some technology too. I still haven't swapped to my new phone.

It's good you have a different mindset about the floor. Mine is improving too... I'm gradually revising my expectations. Today I did 4 hours' chores but I've not yet caught up on the backlog.

It was still 34 when I walked to the shops, and I felt unwell.

I hope we both get through the hot day tomorrow safely.

You're brave to walk to the shops when it's 34C, @Dimity . Did you feel unwell because of the heat, or something else?

Well done on your floor improving, and the 4 hours' chores! That's a big achievement 👏

I bought a cheap new phone last year that I haven't swopped to either. Dreading it.

Today is a work day at home, but I need to pop to the library briefly for some scanning and to return some books due today that I haven't even read. I will make a note of them and re-order them down the track. I want to pop out early, at 9, so can batten down the hatches against the heat afterwards.

Do you think you'll go for a walk this evening? There might be storms. Hope you can avoid them if so.

Hope you don't feel unwell today 🤞

Hello @NatureLover . Hi @scruffypuffball .

I thought it was yesterday's heat but today I'm very tired.

It's unlike you to have unfinished books.

I had a shortish walk after a little rain went through. But this morning's exercise group was pretty strenuous.

Can someone in your organisation help with the work tech issues? If you have a Zoom or other sort of meeting you might be able to share your screen.

I wonder if your tiredness is also mental exhaustion, @Dimity ?

How are you enjoying the exercise group? Was it unusual that the exercises were so strenuous?

Yes, I've gone off reading at the moment - very unusual.

My organisation has helped all they can with the tech issues. I contacted my internet service provider yesterday for help. I may also need to get in an IT company, but hoping to avoid that.

Today I have a lunch with ex-staff members from my old job. It will be nice to see them - I miss them.

Very glad to see we got rain overnight.

Hoping your tiredness eases 🤞

I hope you and your friends enjoyed your lunch @NatureLover .

The exercise group seems very worthwhile. It's an effort and seemed more so this week but it's probably good for me. I've been getting back to my home exercises too but I'm not consistent yet.

I hope your ISP can help. An IT consultant could be expensive.

I think my tiredness is part physical part mental. I'm glad to be up to date with dental work after another session today. I'm still waiting on my biopsy results but presume they show any problems have been taken care of, which should be confirmed next week. I'm resigned to my family situation getting worse before it gets better and I'm hoping to work through it with the support worker (it's probably where some of the burnout comes from).

I'm a bit concerned about you - normally you get a lot of comfort from reading, and it's been important to you as a pastime.

I'm trying to cut back on screentime but haven't really got back to reading yet, apart from some success early in the new year

Re: Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Thanks, @Dimity . No need to be concerned about my lack of reading. I'm keeping busy and my mood is OK which is the main thing. Summer helps with that!

The lunch was nice yesterday.

I'm glad you're finding your exercise group positive. Is there a similar bossy/bullying dynamic as your craft group, for the exercise group cuppa afterwards?

Well done on completing your dental work.

This morning I'm going to the GP for a referral to my respiratory specialist, and also my annual bloods test requests etc. Right now I just want to go back to sleep.

Hoping your biopsy results are good next week.

I managed to get this working today. I couldn't reach this forum on my desktop yesterday 😞 I am not getting the email notifications either. I had to go for blood tests yesterday and a scan today. Abnormal bleed 13 days - perimenopause. It just reduced for the first time today 😞 Hasnt stopped. I havent gone back to work yet. I asked for another few days off. My hemoglobin is already low due to inherited blood disorder. Last 7 days - very bad. I hope you are all keeping ok. I only managed to sit down and eat lunch now. So tired.

Went for scan. Two patients and two staff coughing. I hope my N95 kept me safe. Last thing I need is an infection on top of all of this. That's why we mask, peeps.💪

Sending good vibes and blessings. My friends are coming back from holiday tomorrow. Yipee.
