Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

Hi @tyme , I see my psychologist in 2 weeks. I know what she'll say - start small, driving to places nearby.

I can't have people visit me due to my germophobia and the fact my place is in a mess.

Thanks for listening, that's good support.

Hi @Dimity , which day do you go into hospital next week?

Thanks for the update about your eyes. 🫂

I had a bad fright last night and am still shaky this morning. A big tree fell on my and my neighbour's verandah roofs, smashing them and breaking my outdoor table and taking out our internet line. We've been very lucky, as I froze and would have been squashed if it had fallen on the house. The SES came and now our shared front yard is covered in big logs and cut up branches. A huge mess.

I have to cancel my weekend plans and clean and tidy the house, as the landlord may want to get up into the roof to check for damage (the tree also fell on the roof, but only its top branches, so didn't penetrate). I can barely make a cup of coffee this morning so I don't know how I'm going to clean and tidy the house in 2 days.

Oh gosh @NatureLover Ii hit the support button but it's so inadequate.

How are you now? I'm glad you weren't injured and your inside things weren't damaged. Thank goodness for the SES. Did they use a tarpaulin or something to weatherproof the roof?

Huge gentle bear hug 🫂 🤗.

Do your friends know? I'd come myself but I'm happy to walk through with you virtually and check in. I understand the agoraphobia and germophobia and shame but my dear @NatureLover being house-proud is so far from this situation it shouldn't be a consideration.

I can't imagine how shattered you must feel. I'm reeling myself, and remembering when a tree branch fell through the family ceiling... we were away and neighbours used a tarp. It was before SES was a thing. We dealt with the clear up. It was the first and only time I've climbed on a roof.

Please know I'm thinking of you. I'm resisting overloading you with dozens of thoughts and questions - but please if you have the connectivity keep reaching out.

Let me - us - know if there's any particular supports you'd like - otherwise we're here and listening and happy to step through at your pace.

We love you and and are here for you.

Hoping you're OK @NatureLover . Concerned. I think you were needing groceries and other things. Hope your kind neighbour is ok and is helping especially with your agoraphobia and maybe your car is blocked in... 🫂

Oh no @NatureLover ! That's so scary! Even a branch falling is scary enough. It must have been such a shock for you.

How are you managing?

Hello @Dimity 🙂

Thank you for your very kind and caring messages, @Dimity ❤

I'm sorry you had a tree fall and penetrate your roof as a child 😥

I think I said, the tree didn't penetrate the house roof, only the verandah roof. I heard it break in slow motion, but froze. Me and my neighbour have been very lucky not to get hit ourselves and also not to lose any contents as we aren't insured. Only my outdoor table broke, plus the internet line. And my neighbour lost all his precious plants.

My main worries now are the cleanup outside and inside, as my MH is bad at the moment. The inside wasn't damaged thankfully but I think the landlord might want to come inside on Monday to look inside the roof cavity for damage. The house isn't presentable.

I can't cope with the cleanup outside, so have been focusing on inside. All I could manage yesterday was clearing the few bags on the kitchen floor, putting the rubbish out, vacuuming and doing the watering.

This means I somehow have to get the whole house clean and tidy in one day. A herculean task, especially while feeling so fragile.

Concerned for your upcoming hospital stay this week - you didn't say which days it was?

P.S. @Dimity - the groceries can wait (I'm off my food and just eating Weet Bix when I have to) and my car's not blocked in, thank you ❤

Thanks, @tyme and @Shaz51 .

@tyme I'm not coping very well, but I already wasn't before the tree fell. I see my psychologist in 2 weeks.
