Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

Well done on clearing 2 shelves, @Dimity ! Even if you're yet to dispose of the contents. Were you able to get into bed?

I had a busy work day yesterday. Won't achieve my goals as feel fragile today. Am meant to go out for errands but am stymied so far today.

Sending care ❤

Hey @NatureLover @Dimity

Hope your New Year's Eve is good enough. Celebrate it in small ways that sit well with you!

this thread seems to be having those extra pages on the end as a sign of a long well loved thread!

@Shaz51and Dim... I guess I am filling in my time in other ways. Guess opshopping was a phase, like many phases we go through ... Yes sometimes the crockery was beautiful... those small symbols of food, need, culture, art and civilsed living... good to find circular economies that are not just focussed on making big bucks. I liked working in a big one for a while too...

@NatureLover well I packed several things for the op shop and the rest ended up on the floor. I'll try to get back to it tomorrow.

I'm behind with a number of admin tasks too. I'm struggling to update several IT items and work out how to do it all. I was battling some of it again today. Several places are telling me I'm overdue.

I wish I could reflect on the year positively. I've endured it. With help from some including yourself, and despite others.

The black hearts remind me of a picture (in the children's catechism?) of the difference between venial and mortal sin.

Today I printed something to work on for EMDR. It's quite confronting.

Perhaps I need a break.

Happy New Year @NatureLover I trust your upward trajectory continues and you can sometimes stop and smell the roses along the way

Happy New Year, @Dimity !

Thank you for your good wishes. Back atcha!

It upsets me that the red hearts turn out black. I have no idea why that happens.

Well done on facing something you dreaded (regarding EMDR).

I had a bad day yesterday and couldn't face housework or leaving the house. So have to go out for errands this morning instead.

It's a beautiful morning. I accidentally slept in, but it was lovely out walking.

Sending you many good wishes, my dear friend.

That's a lovely message @NatureLover . Thankyou.

I wonder why you've been so down over the past week? Pressuring yourself and blaming yourself? It's fine to ease off for a while, and perhaps very important to do so from time to time. I should do it myself.

I'm tired and ache-y with lots needing to be done but somehow relieved to get to the New Year. I'll give myself permission to float today, where anything I get done is a bonus.

Hope your walk set you up for a lovely day.

I wonder why you're tired and achy? I hope you're not coming down with something. @Dimity

I'm not pressuring or blaming myself. I just accepted that it wasn't going to work going out the last 2 days. Will try again this morning. I'm not sure why I've been struggling.

It seems I can only tidy and clean the house neat enough for an inspection if someone's coming round. 😣

Today's a work day and thankfully my asthma coughing has eased so much that it's only occasional now, after 6 weeks. So I think I might go out to the library today to work.

Have just remembered it's a watering day too. Better do that now.

Did you make any NY resolutions? I don't usually, but this year I did. One of them was to spend less. Another was to try to do 1 hour's work on the house per day. I'm not sure how realistic that last one is!

Hope you have a good day.

That's pretty dark @scruffypuffball .

These days I have hardly any "them" to consider. And I try not to bother them, but at the same time signal I want to maintain the relationship.

@NatureLover I guess I'd like to continue trying to find a rhythm and pattern to my days. And do what needs to be done instead of agonising over it and procrastinating.

@NatureLover it might be seasonal allergy.

Sorry I'm nodding off.
