Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

Well done on your 2 hours, @Dimity 🙂

I'm going to focus on the house till the New Year (only 5 days now!), then start on the boxes. Am dreading the boxes!

I'm happy you will tidy with me 🙂

I'm actually going out to lunch today, so am not sure how much I'll get done on the house. My friend said she didn't mind my coughing, which is mostly asthma.

It's going to get hot this week, so I'll need to tackle the verandah today or early tomorrow. Sweeping and wiping down the outside furniture and window frames.

What do you want to tackle today?

@NatureLover sorry to hear you haven't shaken the asthma yet.

As usual it's hard to envisage particular projects but I'll aim to clean, work outside and tidy/declutter in equal measure. Perhaps an hour of each. Kitchen & bathroom come to mind, but I might sort some stuff to donate from the wardrobe (stored stuff not clothes).

@NatureLover I did over 2 1/2 hours. It's a bit stressful getting reacquainted with the clutter and wondering where to start and what to do with it. I didn't do much in the garden but it's getting away from me again.

Hi @Dimity , the support button isn't working again.

Well done on your 2.5+ hours 👏

Do you prefer to work by time achieved rather than tasks?

I achieved nothing yesterday, so have to make up for it today.

The bedroom is done, but that's the easiest room. I'm working room by room.

Good luck today 🤞

Having your bedroom done is an excellent start @NatureLover .

Hmm. Yes I go by time spent. The baseline varies and the decluttering endpoint seems open-ended or a very long way off. Or even unattainable. But I can feel accountable for my ongoing efforts and record them in my mood/activity tracker. I recognise that the amount of time I waste is very unhealthy and I hope to get to a point where working 4 hours or more is not only possible but unremarkable.

I'm battling with daily routines. I've not been doing my exercises so have been waking with sciatica. And I'm finding I can't get going in the mornings. But I've started trying to read at night before bed. It means a lot to me to make that effort.

I hope you can move forward with your tidying today. I'll keep going, and try to get into the garden too.

@NatureLover i worked on house & garden but sadly no decluttering today. Hope you had better luck.

Overall not a bad day however. Hopefully I'll get more done tomorrow.

Well done on your house and garden work, @Dimity . Chores and garden maintenance come before decluttering.

Sciatica!! Oh no! Really sorry to hear this 😥

I like that goal where 4 hours' work might be normal!

Reading before bed - well done.

I achieved nothing yesterday despite being home all day. Pressure's on now. I'm going to start with watering.

Good luck to us both today.

Hope you had some success today @NatureLover .

I did some housework and decluttering. And I finished my first book in ages.

Well done on finishing the book! I bet that was satisfying. And for the chores and decluttering.

I was busy all day yesterday but only did 1 hour on the house. Don't think I'll achieve my goal of being inspection ready by New Year's Day. But maybe I can at least have the house neat.

Today is a work day but I might also pop to the supermarket and Bunnings.

Did you go walking in the heat of the afternoon yesterday?

@Dimity
