Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

Glad you had a reasonable afternoon @Dimity

We went for a country drive and a walk in a National Park.

My son cooked lunch.

We watched a movie.

@scruffypuffball That would all be very frustrating. Check in when you can.

Hope you are going alright @NatureLover

Take care

Delighted to hear you had a "very pleasant" family gathering yesterday, @Dimity !

I've decided to try again to get the house inspection ready by New Year's Day. I didn't end up tidying the kitchen yesterday.

It was cold out walking yesterday and this morning at 6. I also managed to forget to put my garbage bin out yesterday! Could run into difficulty with that, especially with tidying up.

Hope you have a good day today if possible.

I am hearing house inspections can be a nightmare @NatureLover I am lucky to avoid them. I dont remember them being a hassle when I used to rent, however I see so much anxiety about it all over the place. My neighbour is hassling me about nonsense stuff cos she is stressed to the max by inspections. I had to get a new fence in the front, but she did it in a weird manipulative way. Then complained about little warp in the rear fence. Even the fencing contractor who eventually did the front, gorgeous old Aussie salt of the Earth husband and wife couple. Told me not to worry about it, and call him in 10 years. Its how there can be a contagious domino effect in many social aspects of mental health. She stressed me out, with all that has been going on, that I told her directly she was overdoing the cleaning, and she then hated on my cats. Yeah. Not had many issues before all my life. Hope it doesnt escalate.

@Dimity Gentle hugs. Glad we all survived the day.

Hello @Appleblossom I'm having fence trouble too. Imminent collapse. Main problem is a dysfunctional self-managed owners corporation.

@NatureLover a goal to make a difference by New Year sounds reasonable. I've done an hour so far today and barely made a dent. I'll continue after a (rare) nap.

Imminent fence collapse, @Dimity !! 😯

I've done 3.5 hours and my goal is 4 hours today. Want to tidy with me over the next 6 days?

I hope you enjoy your nap 🙂

I need to get some music practise done.

Place is as it has been for decades... approximately clean and tidy.

Washed me chopping boards with vinegar today.

Nourished the little round wooden dining table with polish for yesterday. Guess the oven will wait til I have time...

In my way I have been pretty stable...i even lived in a stable once ... lol ... it was renovated for hoomans, back of my uncle and aunts place when I was 17. LOL

@Dimity @scruffypuffball @NatureLover

Thanks for the company.

Well done @NatureLover @Appleblossom

I felt better after a 30 min kip. Haven't got back to tidying yet. Got some needed groceries and redeemed a pet food voucher.

Yes the fenceposts have rotted and two sections of fence are leaning. I've already another section of fence braced at my own expense. As usual the other owners aren't responding to information/warnings/complaints or quotes.

Yes @NatureLover I'll see how I go with tidying with you over the next week. I'd like to try again. Last time I tried I gave up.

@Appleblossom it's great you've been stable and consistent in your efforts. Unfortunately at times in my life I splurged and acquired too much, and it was compounded by inheriting stuff. And for a long time my mh certainly wasn't stable. The house has rarely felt homely... it's been painful.

@Dimity Just my weird life. Chaotic housing grouwing up. trying to be stable for others, and my son has noticed and appreciate that. But I haven't FELT stable for a long time, but my lability, I guess is stable in a weird way. Ie the extremes. One psych mentioned I could be seen as BiPolar (mixed state.)

Hope the fence stuff gets sorted.

@Appleblossom 🫂 I seemed to age out of lability into stubbornly depressed states. You did well to plough through.

@NatureLover I achieved a second hour but am still catching up. Are you concentrating on being inspection ready or will you try for some boxes as well?
