Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Don't worry about me, I'm happy to be home on Cmas Day as I don't celebrate Cmas and my family is abusive. I might hang out on the forums a bit, in case anyone is distressed on Cmas Day.

Your whole taps need replacing? Oh gosh, do you need a plumber to do that?

I achieved nothing again yesterday. Oh dear. I hope I get motivated soon.

@NatureLover the handyman said he could replace the taps if it was a straightforward job but I think I'll get a plumber even if it's more expensive. The plastic handles have cracked and could fall apart like my bathroom taps did a few years ago.

I saw the counsellor today. A family member tomorrow. More family the day after (Xmas day).

There's so much I'll have to face in 2026 that I've been putting off. It's scary. But I'll try to get through this week first.

I'm sorry to hear your family is abusive. You've mentioned your abusive father but not your mother or others. I guess my family was abusive. They were quite dysfunctional. I think I internalised a lot of hurt.

I haven't been able to face the EMDR homework.

@Dimity I guess the plumber would ensure a good job with no trouble down the track.

Was it the counsellor you saw, not the psychologist? Do you talk about different things with each?

Yes, my mother and brother, not to mention my stepmother, aren't great. But mainly it is my father who is abusive.

I've sunk into a depression. There's no way my house will be neat and clean in time for Christmas. I've kind of given up on that. But I must remember that the inspection is still overdue. And that I've got to start going through the boxes in January. Eeek!! Pressure!

I hope your Christmas catch up with your family member goes well today.

Hi @NatureLover there's still time to make a difference eg in the kitchen, if you're up to it. But I know the feelings of depression and overwhelm and avoidance/procrastination.

Sorry to hear about your other family members but not altogether surprised. Hugs 🫂 and respect for battling through your mh challenges.

I don't intend to continue seeing both the counsellor and psychologist. But they have different approaches and very different personalities.

I hope today turns out happier and more fruitful than you expect.
