Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

@NatureLover it sounds as though you have several concurrent health challenges. The SAD may have been better but you had all the job problems. Hopefully you can turn things around in coming weeks.

I haven't boxed anything for quite a while. But of course I have a big backlog. I'd like to be making inroads on it. Today was a bit stressful at the vet (but Tiger is ok) then I had the home help. I ended up snoozing rather than working.

Your elastic-sided shed and my spare room and offsite storage will quietly sit until dealt with I guess. I tried to start on some files today but only threw out 3 documents.

I wonder what we'll get done tomorrow.

I'm glad Tiger is OK. You didn't mention how the home help went? @Dimity

Thanks for your good wishes. Am going back to the chemist today to ask whether anything else might help my cough. I have my main social event of the year tomorrow and at this stage I won't be able to go, my coughing is too bad. 😣

I emptied some bags yesterday to wash, and also did a little watering despite the coughing. Today will be sitting at my desk (after the chemist trip).

I hope your day today is successful.

The home help was OK I think thanks @NatureLover.

I hope the pharmacist could help so you can go out and celebrate tomorrow.

Today I sorted some of the papers I'd been avoiding... now filed or shredded. I didn't get as many other chores done as I'd hoped but I guess tomorrow is another day.

It's good you unpacked some bags. I guess my pantry is overstocked, especially with catfood, so I should try to use up some of the excess.

I'm happy for you as you said the home help was OK @Dimity 🙂

The pharmacist said I was doing all the right things, but recommended echinacea, so I went and got some.

Well done on tackling your dreaded papers 👏

Rain today so I don't have to water the garden. I wonder if you'll get your evening walk in despite the rain...

Only a few light drops when I walked @NatureLover .

Hope you enjoyed your night out tonight

I'll have a visitor Tuesday who'll look critically at house and garden and take in my lack of progress in recent months.

I'm worried Tuesday I won't make it to an appointment after exercise group if the minibus runs as late as it did last week when I was dropped off last. SoI'll have 3 things Tuesday.

3 things on Tuesday sounds stressful, @Dimity . Especially the critical visitor 😥

I certainly hope the minibus runs on time. 🤞

I didn't go to my big social event - still coughing too much and I didn't want to spread it. 😥 Missing all these social events is starting to affect my MH.

I'm glad you got to walk yesterday evening.

I haven't planned what to do today. Always dangerous.

I hope your dsy goes well.

Sending a cheerio @NatureLover and hoping your day is OK.

Disappointing re your cancellation, I can understand it getting you down.

Thanks for your cheerio, @Dimity . I'm bored and lonely. This coughing could go on for weeks 😣

What do you have planned for today?

@NatureLover the usual I guess. Shopping, chores, garden. I doubt I'll make a dent in the clutter. I've realised I've made no progress overall since my hospitalisation in February, other than recovering.

Do you feel like reading? That's sometimes your go-to I think.

I wouldn't say you've made no progress, my friend. Just the other day you shredded and filed some documents. Plus you've been working hard for months on legal stuff.

But in any case, I think your recovery is paramount, so if it takes however long, that's OK.

I've been doing too much reading. I'm nearly at the end of my library books. I've ordered lots more but they're mostly long reserves. I may have to go out for library books next week (wearing a mask). None of the books are gripping, either.

The only other thing I have to do is chores, and any activity makes me cough uncontrollably. 😣 Plus chores suck!

Good luck today with your shopping, chores and garden work. At least this afternoon will be fine for your walk.
