Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

Thanks, @Dimity . Yes, I'm very motivated to work on the Agoraphobia at the moment. My psychologist has set me some practice drives to do, along with strategies.

I'm glad to hear that any future MHCP might help towards your new psychologist.

I'm very fortunate in that my psychologist lets me set the agenda. My document ended up being 7 pages yesterday! I couldn't manage my life without her.

A free day at home today. That's nice as this week has been busy and I'm out tomorrow. No sun today I think.

What are your plans for today? I hope today is a better day for you.

Hope you enjoyed your free day @NatureLover and didn't spend it all on chores.

I wasted a lot of time but did my exercises (ouch) and did some decluttering. I investigated some of the stuff in the spare room... in boxes and baskets - and tossed some items. I'm aware of lots that needs doing but hopefully I'll get more done tomorrow. I need to finish the paperwork before I do very much else.

Hi @Dimity , I kind of wasted my free day. I rested, read books and did laundry. Had some S.A.D.

So I need to do chores this morning before lunch with friends.

Well done for doing some decluttering and getting rid of some items 👍

Good luck with the paperwork or whatever you decide to work on today.

Hello @NatureLover

Hope you enjoyed your weekend. The free day doesn't sound wasted to me... more like a needed break.

I planted some shrubs in time for the rain. I still have a number of things to plant, mostly geraniums I've grown from cuttings.

My anxiety is increasing again, mostly in anticipation of some difficult situations coming up.

Hope your week goes well.

Sorry to hear you have a few difficult situations coming up, @Dimity . I hope your anxiety is manageable.

I was depressed all weekend and was only able to stay at the lunch for an hour and a quarter.

Still struggling today.

You sound like you have a green thumb. Well done for planting out some plants.

Hello @NatureLover sorry to hear you've been depressed and struggling. Hopefully today's summery weather will cheer you. You've been very busy lately so maybe this is just a temporary reaction and setback, a time to slow down and take stock before moving ahead again.

I've working on clearing my paperwork backlog. I'm stuck at the moment and feel a bit overwhelmed. And there's stuff I've lost in my clutter. I guess I'll just have to persevere.

Thanks, @Dimity . I seem to have come out of my depressive slump yesterday - at least, I hope so. Having the purpose of my volunteer job helps.

Sorry you're stuck on the paperwork. Do you think the missing documents will turn up? Or will you have to see about getting replacements?

Luckily I was outside early this morning as it's just started raining. I want to catch up on some work for my job today, and do a little tidying and laundry. I might pop to the library if my books come in.

Good to see you back online 🙂 I hope the paperwork comes unstuck very soon 🤞

Glad you're happier @NatureLover . Maybe you're finally shaking off the SAD for tge season.

I haven't lost documents. In fact I've nearly finished the legal paperwork. I can't find some books with instructions for knitting toys. With great difficulty I'm trying to connect to a couple of local groups, one a craft group. I was referred to them nearly a year ago but they're very difficult to deal with. The knitting books could be anywhere. I know where they used to be before I last "tidied" them. I might have boxed them among my 30 or 40 boxes in the spare room. Shudder. Or they may be in the piles of craft stuff in one corner of the livingroom. I've already checked the bookshelves.

I'm way behind with house and garden again. I cleaned for a couple of hours today but need to do much more to catch up.

Well done for your 2 hours' cleaning, @Dimity . And for almost finishing the legal paperwork! 👏

That's also good that you're trying to connect with the craft group. Good luck finding the knitting books 🤞

I've been depressed as I feel I'm losing some friends from my old job. People who are dear to me. I'm trying to accept it but it's hard.

I might try to connect with a dog walking friend today, or I might wimp out.

Sorry to hear you're losing touch with friends @NatureLover . Do you use social media? You might be able to keep up with them between seeing them.

I did some decluttering today but find I'm not able to sustain the effort for long. I'll have to work on it. I swept a lot of leaf litter, but didn't get onto the weeding.

Did you walk the dog? It was quite a nice day. I'm trying to walk a little further these days.
