Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

Your hyacinth is pretty, @Dimity . Still no spring flowers here.

Thanks for your kind words. I've committed to 2 shifts a week working from home for a year. But yes, I might look to dropping to one shift a week after a year, if the office job works out.

I stayed in bed all day yesterday. Hoping to get up today.

Well done on overcoming 2 hurdles yesterday. Good luck with the next 2...

Hope you enjoyed today's sunshine @NatureLover

I had the fence fixed.

Family dramas continue. I'm expecting the next instalment any time. In responding to untrue statements I've set out my truth quietly and clearly and now fear retribution. With that particular issue, anyway. I'm very tired. Anxiety and depression quite bad.

I did 11/2 hours cleaning. I need to declutter and/or garden tomorrow, to break the cycle of negatives.

I was too depressed to go outside for the sunshine - another day in bed.

But I have to get up today as I have to somehow clean and tidy for the smoke detector inspection next Thursday.

That's good you got the fence fixed. And well done for stating your truth. I hope the repercussions are manageable.

Well done also for 1 1/2 hours' cleaning.

Sorry to hear your slump continues @NatureLover . 🫂 🤗 sending hugs.

Hope you can activate enough to get some therapeutic sunshine today... might help towards cleaning energy.

Thinking of you. I know it's hard for you at present.

Thanks, @Dimity . Especially when I know it's hard for you too.

I didn't do any cleaning or tidying yesterday, which means the pressure is on now before Thursday. But I did manage to do 2 laundry washes and change the bed linen.

I hope your depression and anxiety eases 🤞

@NatureLover interesting how laundry is easy for you compared with other things. But it counts so well done.

I'm trying to get back on track. I'm happy with the last 3 days' efforts, apart from family stuff. Well happy enough. The admin stuff is an ongoing battle. Hopefully it won't take more than a month.

By "admin stuff", do you mean the legal and financial matters? @Dimity

Well done for the last 3 days.

Yes, laundry is easier for me as I see it as cleaning off germs and that gives me a good feeling. Thanks.

Am pretty depressed and am still in bed. Have also run out of library books, so that's a problem as going out will be difficult.

Is there any way I can help and support you @NatureLover ? There's so much going for you with the change in work/home/social/life circumstances plus SAD plus everything else. Do look into e-books with your library! Very handy. There's a book I've been meaning to look at on Project Gutenberg too.

Both clean clothes and showering are high priorities for me and they make me feel so much better. The longest I went without was immediately after my dad passed.

I have to tidy as much as possible tomorrow before a new new home help comes.

Yes the admin stuff is awful. The financials and legals. So difficult and long drawn out. Even after all these weeks of negotiations and emails and visits the work is just beginning.

Please look after yourself and I hope there are some glimmers in your dark days.

Thank you heaps for your kind words, @Dimity ❤

If you also have to clean today, could we maybe do it together and report back throughout the day? That always helps me. But only if you feel like it.

Yes, I think the reality of my massive change is hitting me now and it's not good.

I really hope your new home help is a good one this time. Is this through the council still?

The legal and financial matters sound like a nightmare 😥

I achieved nothing yesterday so I have a huge amount to get through today and I'm pretty depressed.

Good luck today with whatever you do.
