Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

Oh no re what the council said!! Well done for sticking up for yourself and asking for someone else!

I hope you do get someone else and don't have to cancel 🤞 If necessary, would you feel you could complain about the nasty lady?

Seems strange that your second fence quote hasn't arrived yet.

I was due to start my second small job last Tuesday but my new boss is sick. So I'm now starting next Tuesday, after my in-person psychiatrist appt at 10am. Awkward timing, but the psychiatrist appt has been put off 4 times already by the psychiatrist. So that will be a challenging day for me as I have to go to a germy hospital for the appt, then start a new job.

I am missing everyone at my old job a lot. I always thought I was there to work, but actually I've realised the socialisation was a big part of what I loved about it. I'm trying to catch up with everyone one-on-one. I don't want to lose friends by leaving.

At least I'm really enjoying my work for the other job. I'll call it my "main" job, and the small charity my "little" job (only 4 hours a week for that one).

I had a good psychologist appt yesterday, and she was pleased with me for leaving the old workplace which had turned toxic.

Am sending wishes the council grants your wish 🤞

I'm glad your psychologist supported your major move @NatureLover . That means a lot.

I guess you won't have many free days between your main and little jobs. But I understand it being awkward to go from the stressful hospital visit to work.

This week's home help seemed OK, it was someone new who was filling in because they'd had a cancellation.

I bought some new clothes yesterday. I realise I've spent more than usual. I'd also bought plants. I'm not sure it's wise. I picked up "new" reading glasses today (reusing old frames) and it struck me on the way home I didn't need them either. I feel I don't see well but maybe I'm wrong as noone seems to take me seriously. My lens implant was supposed to mean I don't need reading glasses. Anyway that's a lot of new stuff this week.

Tomorrow I'll try again to get a covid booster. I keep missing out as the pharmacy doesn't often stock it. I'll also try to get in the right mindset for decluttering and paperwork.

Best wishes for your day.

Sorry, @Dimity ! I thought I'd replied to you, and was worrying about you...only to see I hadn't actually replied!

Were you able to get your Covid booster?

It strikes me that if you think you need reading glasses, then you need reading glasses. You're the expert on your own sight.

I'm glad the home help was a good one.

I've had 2 quiet days of avoidance of responsibility at home. I feel I've been on the go every day since leaving my old job a month ago, so I think slowing down was needed.

Today I'm doing errands as I didn't do them on Friday, plus dog walking with a friend.

Sorry again for my mistake. Hope you are OK...

Hi @Dimity, worried about you. Are you OK?

I also hope I haven't offended you 😣

Sending hugs 🫂

Hello @NatureLover and thanks for getting back to me. I've been a bit out of sorts and was a bit upset over something that happened on another thread but I've processed that now. The support button often isn't working. I'm sorry I hadn't replied, I generally try to reply the same day and can lose track if I don't.

I was surprised yesterday when the counsellor asked if I needed to be in hospital - my low mood and brain fog are very different to what has landed me there in the past. So I'll try to muddle on.

Are you settling well into the flow of your new jobs? Having a work commitment most days is a big responsibility.

Today is a quiet day, no appointments, I'll potter around the house and try to catch up on my backlog. Dusting will be on the list.

Have a good day.

Hi @Dimity , sorry you had an upset on the forums.

I notice my second message to you didn't post...I wonder if it was the overnight "holding posts" thing, or if I did something wrong while posting. It was just showing concern for you and hoping I hadn't offended you.

I know what you mean about losing track if you don't reply straight away.

You obviously didn't agree about hospital. That's good you knew clearly.

My little job cancelled on me again, but not till I'd driven all the way there! So I still haven't started with them. It'll be next Tuesday now.

I was impressed you dusted yesterday! I only do the dusting when there's an inspection!

Dog walking today plus a bit of work for my main job. Rain is coming for days, which I'm dreading.

I hope you have a good day today.

Hello @NatureLover . It must have been annoying to have a wasted trip.

Despite good intentions I've let chores pile up again and haven't got to things. I've had a lot of appointments this week.

I've backed off on the forums a bit. I feel quite uncomfortable at the moment. I'm sorry if it's impacting you and other friends.

Take care.

Thank you for letting me know you've backed off the forums, @Dimity . It makes me sad though that you're feeling so uncomfortable.

I think it's normal to let chores pile up when you have a lot of appts. I know I do.

This weekend will be wet so I really need to tackle the house.

Take care, I hope you are OK.
