Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

1 1/3 hours today @NatureLover ... including tackling some different stuff to usual. It might fill a gap in my memory.

Well done on the 2 solid hours' work, @Dimity . Maybe the different stuff will motivate you - it sometimes does with me.

Sorry your days seem dull and dark 😥 That makes your achievements all the stronger.

I had a very stressful day at work yesterday and then was awake from 2am till 6am when I got up. Strangely I feel OK and am aiming to do the watering and laundry. After that I might crash, but I'll see.

Good luck planning your daily schedule.

Hi again @Dimity , have done my first laundry wash and have spent an hour writing up some instructions for someone at work. I'm trying to offload a part of my work so I can get more done.

I've been meaning to tell you - my hands haven't been itchy for months, and I've even been using up some normal soap I had in stock, not the sensitive soap. I think it's because I haven't been using my therapy light over summer.

Good luck to us both today with tidying / decluttering / chores.

@NatureLover if your raw hands and excoriation disorder are better that's fantastic. I'm very happy for you. And I'm glad if you can swap around your work duties to make the work more manageable in the time available.

Thanks, @Dimity . My excoriation disorder isn't any better, just the itchy hands.

I had a really good day on Tuesday and was active all day, no reading till after 5pm! Not much house tidying got done though. Then yesterday I had blood tests for my annual diabetes check up, plus coffee with a friend from work.

Today I have work plus getting my monthly meds from the chemist - it always takes at least 1/2 hour as I'm on 11 meds. I don't get all of them each time, but still plenty.

How are you going with planning your daily routine?

And how is your sleep lately?

It sounds as though you're keeping busy. Today I had a new physio and got a flu shot. So a lot of walking between different buses. I'm still in a slump and haven't looked at the therapist's notes to write up a daily schedule yet. It's not really procrastinating, I lose track. I'm still sleeping too much and slept through 4 alarms this morning so things aren't quite right. And family problems keep getting worse whenever I think they've improved a little.

@NatureLover

Hope tomorrow goes well for you.

Hi @Dimity , I hope the new physio was good?

Sorry you're still in a slump 😥🫂

Gosh, it seems as if your family problems could hardly get any worse 😥

I had a good day at work yesterday but forgot to put the bins out last night. Luckily I think I can get away with it this fortnight as it was the recycling bin that was due.

Now I have 3 days at home, as I went grocery shopping and got my monthly meds on the way home yesterday. So I'm hoping to achieve 3 hours a day each day.

Am slow getting started this morning though.

I hope you feel a bit brighter today 🤞

I am in a slump too @Dimity

I am sorry you are in one, because I feel pretty bad, I hope you're not too bad

I had a pretty big day yesterday - I used to be able to churn through these things ok. I eventually got out of bed, but I hardly got anything done, so I feel bad for that too.

@NatureLover the physio was OK thanks, it turns out I'd been doing an important exercise the wrong way. I'm very stiff and sore today. And I flooded the laundry.

I decluttered more papers.

My NBN isn't working again. I don't know what to do about it.

My sister is very unwell.

Sorry what I'm writing is so disjointed.

I hope you succeeded in what you wanted to do today... good luck for tomorrow

I wonder if you're pushing yourself too hard @Till23 . Perhaps you're overcompensating for feeling unworthy... which of course you're not. Sleeping in today was your body telling you it's time to slow down and catch up.

I guess your intensive preparation for sports competition might be easing up now, but you'll still be active. I hope you can arrive at a better balance with your work and volunteering. You need to factor in some self-care.

I hope after a good rest today you feel better tomorrow.
