Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

OK, so a chore day it is today. I am also in a tiny house and can't hide the mess away.

Sorry to hear you had a rotten night. I hope your day gets better. Will you keep a tally of your coffees so that you can shock me at the end of the day lol?

@NatureLover I can do that.. I'm sure I drink enough coffee to put the average person in hospital 😂 My doctor is a huge coffee drinker too so he can't really tell me off... I gave him a packet of killer coffee beans when his baby was due. 😂

He said it came in very handy!

I need to write my list so I know what I'm doing today. I'm so glad I got the fridge done yesterday although there wasn't as much in there to throw away as I'd hoped. I have way too many condiments for a single person! 😂 I know I have poo to pick up today.. I haven't done it for a couple of days 🙊 Naughty me!

It's supposed to be 17° and sunny today so maybe a walk as well as exercises.

I can't believe it's only Wednesday. This week seems to be going slow.

OK, I stand ready to be shocked by the amount of super-strong real coffee you can down in one day...

I haven't written my list today yet but it's percolating in my head. (Haha - do you like the coffee joke?) Yes, condiments take up so much room considering you don't eat them that often - or I don't.

We've got a top of 13 with clearing showers...but sunny days to follow, thankfully.

I saw you were brave enough to post on the "trouble accepting the good days" thread. Well done that you were ready. I should have been more supportive to you yesterday about your feeling above. 😞 I do understand it as it used to be a great fear of mine...still is, but only a little these days, thankfully. I hope your fear and worry will get less, too.

@NatureLover Nice coffee joke! 😂

Better latte than never! 🤣 I kid! I thought you were supportive... honestly.

Haha, @Escaped_Goat - surely a latte would be way too weak for your tastes!

I'm glad you think I was supportive, as I was trying to be...just didn't emphasise that I understood.

OK, the List is next, and laundry to start my chores with. I like doing laundry...plus the machine is doing the work for you. I use that to get started on bad days: I set the machine going then go and lie down while the machine makes me feel like I'm achieving something. I don't think today is a bad day though.

I've been adding flaxseed meal to my bread, as I bought it before I found the actual flaxseeds. But I think the flaxseed meal makes the bread more crumbly...I think I'll stick to actual seeds from now on. I have no idea yet what I will have for lunch or dinner...I might clean up first then decide. Usually I start planning my next meal as soon as I finish the last meal, lol...the life of a food addict!

@NatureLover Oh yes! A latte is just milk that the coffee walked past! 😂

I have the laundry started and I have cleared the table of the conglomerate of stuff that found its way there in the last day or so. Now I have space to sit and write my list 😂

Any meal is just another flour really and you'd need to balance it out with additional moisture to avoid crumbly texture. For future reference.

I'm going to have to use my last cob today so I'm already thinking what I'll do to it. Then I need a bread break for a few days.

Haha! And that's why I like it, lol 😄

Oh, thanks for this - I didn't realise. I did reduce the flour to compensate for the meal, but maybe still not enough water...hmmm.

Well done on clearing the table, that is always a good thing and something I need to do with the papers on my computer desk...but it can wait for another, less 'active' day.

Wow, 4 cobb loaves in 4 days! Mind you, mine was so yummy in its various forms (I had the base as a pizza that night) that I am thinking of getting another one sometime.

I want to thank you for all your encouragement, both to get stuff done at home and keeping me company through the day. 🙂

@NatureLover I don't think my cob loaves were as big as the one you had.. however I've taken a recipe out of your book and ripped the guts out of this last one added to my freezer crumb bag of course and made myself a pizza for lunch.

Thank you for the same... it certainly makes isolation easier having good company 🙂

<swoons and faints> Imagine me inspiring someone with my bad cooking! 😄 I'm actually having pizza toast right now for lunch too, but just using ordinary sliced bread I had in the freezer.

I rang the chemist to see if my new script had been faxed (it had) and said I'd be in tomorrow, not today. I'm doing useful housework today and don't want to interrupt it. They said that was fine. I can't waste a useful housework day if I'm in the 'zone'...

My psychiatrist yesterday was pleasantly surprised (as am I) that my germophobia has mostly been at normal levels during this pandemic. So far, anyway. My nice neighbour has been tested for Covid-19...results tomorrow.

Hoping your day continues well @Escaped_Goat .

Haha! @NatureLover Why wouldn't you be an inspiration? It was a very good idea!

Look at you winning the day! Prioritorising and all!

Hope your neighbor is okay. We've not had a case here since the start and now the council wants to open the caravan parks and everyone is saying only to South Australians... keep the borders closed. We're in a bubble here and it would be nice to keep it that way.

What do you think has kept your levels normal? Mine haven't really increased. I have perfected my side-eye when someone coughs within 2 metres of me though 😂
