Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

Hi @Dimity , I hope your chores are going along OK. How was your medical review?

I'm also trying to reset my body clock as I have been waking up all over the place in terms of time. Good luck with yours...

I've been keeping up with chores but not the decluttering. No date yet for inspection thankfully. I didn't make it to work on Monday as have had 2 non-functioning days. Hoping today is better.

Yes the derailment has been stressful but the events behind it more so. Hopefully I can start moving on now some have been resolved, if I can get help.

It sounds very traumatic 😢 How long do you have left with your psychologist?

Hello @NatureLover I'm sorry to hear you had a couple of off-days. I hope you managed to rest and recuperate and today was better. I guess not having an inspection date means it's still a week or two away, but you might feel better if you can prepare early. It sounds as though you've already done quite a lot.

I've got the doctors' appointments behind me now. I'm on my own now, apart from a couple of prescriptions they gave me. I think the psychologist can see me for a few more months, but when she cancelled last week and didn't reschedule for a few days I felt a bit lost.

Yes, sleep routines and decluttering. And keeping up with chores. Very mundane but important. But there's got to be more to life. I've lost touch.

Good luck for tomorrow, I hope you feel up to working.

Hello @NatureLover it just occurred to me my last post was open to misinterpretation, I meant no criticism. I'm very lonely and isolated, and my life feels empty. I look forward to your posts, they mean a lot.

Dear @Dimity , I saw no criticism in your last post...so no need to worry. But thank you for your kind words.

I'm sad you're so lonely and isolated. I'm glad you have one nice neighbour.

You wrote that you're on your own regarding doctor's appts now...does that mean no more cardiologist appts? I'm sorry your psychologist cancelled last week...she seems to do that a bit.

I haven't been online as much lately. Missed work all this week. Seeing my psychologist today...there's a lot to get through. Regarding no inspection date yet, I'm thankful...I had wanted it to move to a bit later in the year. Plus there's still stuff on my kitchen floor and I haven't started any cleaning yet.

My nice neighbour called the police on our out-of-control neighbour, and will apply online for an intervention order, which I support.

You wrote, "But there's got to be more to life. I've lost touch."

I really hope you can see some hope for your future and some enjoyment soon... 🤞

Sending hugs.

Are you feeling any better? @NatureLover

I recognise things have been a little all over the place in terms of sleep etc.

Hello @NatureLover I do hope seeing your psychologist today helped. I realise things haven't been easy for you lately, and you must be still processing your new diagnosis. Maybe your reflections on it will also help the psychologist clarify their understanding of it all.

I'll be OK, I've probably been overthinking and overreacting.

Do you have any plans for the weekend?

Hello @tyme

Re: Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi @Dimity , yes, the psychologist visit helped yesterday. But I haven't accepted the Autism diagnosis. I think my "symptoms" can all be explained by my other MIs and my HSP. It wasn't actually an official diagnosis, as I didn't want to spend $1,000 - $2,000 to go through the official testing. We've just sort of agreed to disagree, and in fact the psychologist apologised numerous times for even bringing it up, and also said that she could be wrong. I could be wrong too, of course. We're going to move on from it thankfully.

I'm hoping that your nasty neighbours keep quiet for some time now, and don't rip anything else out of the communal garden.

I'm staying home this weekend thankfully. I actually don't want to leave the house ever again (my agoraphobia). But am aiming to do my best to go back to work on Monday.

I hope you have good success with your chores and/or tasks this weekend...

Thanks so much for popping in @tyme 🙂

I've been setting my alarm for 6 so am getting a little more regular. Yes, am feeling a little better thanks. Hoping to make it back to my volunteer job on Monday after a week when I wasn't up to going.

I read elsewhere that you've had another busy / big week? Hope your weekend is just how you like it...
