Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

Well done on clearing the hoard @NatureLover .

I'm low but the pain isn't too bad thanks - the osteopath changed my exercises. Just very tired and finding things difficult.

Do you have a date for the inspection yet?

Hi, thanks so much for your reply @Dimity . No date yet for the inspection, but tidying and clearing the last of the hoard has stalled.

Sorry to hear you're still low 😢 Am sending wishes your mood improves very soon 🤞 and you feel brighter.

Was glad to hear that your pain isn't too bad. Did the osteopath change your exercises to be less painful?

You've done well to get most of the decluttering done ahead of time @NatureLover .

I need to move forward again with mine too.

A new heart diagnosis, storm damage and belligerent neighbours took their toll today. But tomorrow i can begin again.

I hope work went well for you today @NatureLover and your errands and tidying efforts go smoothly tomorrow.

I'm trying to get back on track but I'm not there yet. Hopefully it won't take too long. I've revised my daily goals, and I'm pondering how to tackle things - with or without a helper.

Hi @Dimity , thanks so much for your 2 messages. Our power was knocked out in the storm on Tuesday night. Got it back now, thank goodness, but some locals won't have power till Sunday night 😣

It sounds like your power was OK?

How do you feel about the new heart diagnosis? Do you think the new diagnosis will help?

It would be a hard decision. I hope the new daily goals help, whichever way they were revised.

Sorry also that your belligerent neighbours have been difficult. We have had our beliigerent neighbour screaming as well.

I have quite a few errands today...thanks for your good wishes.

Hello @NatureLover I hope you had a successful day and caught up with your errands. I had to go out a couple of times for different things.

Noone has talked to me about the diagnosis yet but I surmise my condition is mild so I doubt there'll be much follow-up.

My power was OK so I looked after a neighbour's freezer goods for a few hours. There were heaps of trees and branches down and a neighbour's fence blew over. I saw several emergency crews in action on Tuesday evening clearing roads... all within a couple of streets of home.

I need to catch up on chores again. And I'll try to treat myself to some reading time. I'm sooooo tired of the clutter and will try to start nibbling away at it again. I'm still undecided about contacting the support agency.

My errands were successful thanks @Dimity and I'm pleased with my new pillow, Spotlight stuff and my library books.

Is there no treatment needed for your heart diagnosis?

That was good of you to mind your neighbour's freezer goods. I've had to throw out the contents of my fridge and freezer. But I replaced them yesterday.

Do you have books at home already to read?

My chores are OK apart from the washing up, so that means I can tackle the remainder of the stuff on the kitchen floor this weekend hopefully.

Good luck with your chores and clutter this weekend... 🤞

I'm already on some meds @NatureLover and it remains to be seen if there'll be any changes now my condition has progressed a little. I'm sorry you lost perishables. I feel for people disconnected for days - some still are. Yes, I have books - many books - and succumbed to temptation and bought a couple more secondhand for light reading.

I'm plodding on with basic chores. I'm working on my sleep and fatigue issues, hoping that will help. It's nearly 12 months since my decluttering efforts were seriously derailed and I've only had sporadic successes since then.

I'm sorry your neighbour has been troublesome. They sound very unwell.

Fingers crossed tomorrow is productive for us both.

I'm really sorry to hear your heart condition has progressed, @Dimity 😢

It's good you have books to read for when you feel like it.

Yes, some people I know are still without power sadly.

I didn't achieve much yesterday but woke up early today and have done some laundry.

Yes, my screaming neighbour is very unwell. Unfortunately she is scaring off the nice neighbours. The real estate agent said she was going to write a warning letter to her last year, but we don't know if she did as the screaming is continuing. It's an ethical dilemma for us neighbours, as we don't want her to be homeless, but she's abusing children (as well as adults) which can't continue.

Well done on the chores. I hope your sleep and fatigue improve... I feel for you. Recent events derailed me, and I can't imagine what 12 months of derailment must be like - very stressful. 😣

Good luck today...

I admire early birds @NatureLover . I'm trying to reset my body clock (again).

Today was better for me, I got some chores done.

It must be so difficult with your neighbour as mh services and police are limited in where they can intervene. There's a gap re outreach community welfare services.

Yes the derailment has been stressful but the events behind it more so. Hopefully I can start moving on now some have been resolved, if I can get help.

I hope work goes well for you tomorrow. I'll have a medical review but hope to get more chores done as well.
