Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

I think I agree with you about the Big Five in general @NatureLover but will have another look at the pdf I downloaded to reconsider. I'm definitely having trouble with goals and plans but it's an mh thing so chicken/egg question re cause and effect. I don't really have any mh support atm apart from these forums.

Good on you for dealing with the kitchen. I started looking for my missing paperwork today but quickly got discouraged.

Yes a shingles vaccine sounds worthwhile. I might ask for a course sometime. I'm not sure the age at which it's free, I'll look it up.

I hope I can get moving tomorrow, today was a write-off. I trust your day was better than mine.

The age at which the Shingles vaccine is free is 65, @Dimity .

I'm really sorry 😢

Trying to find missing paperwork is very daunting, I know from lots of experience. I hope you can find it soon 🤞

Yesterday I felt OK although it was an upsetting day - there is a situation here with one neighbour out of the 5 who is out of control. To the extent we were discussing calling the police. She hates us all and is full of rage, screaming at us and accusing us of ridiculous things like putting leaves on her path. This has been going on for 7 years and she is escalating lately. I think she has untreated paranoia and Intermittent Explosive Disorder 😢

Today I feel very heavy physically, like going back to bed, but I have work. I hope I come good in a few hours' time.

How did your day end up yesterday?

I hope that today is a better day for you and you feel stronger 💚

@NatureLover that sounds very distressing for you re the neighbour. I'm glad you can confer with the other neighbours. I wonder if police can really do much to help, other than warning her.

Heaviness - yes I feel it too. I hope you were OK at work. I'm trying to press on and have found one of the missing documents in an unlikely place I put it so I wouldn't lose it. Go figure. Anyway I've filed it now. Today I got more done than yesterday.

I just realised I haven't walked yet. It's still light so I'd better go.

Best wishes for tomorrow.

Well done on finding the missing document! And for getting stuff done 🙂

I'm sorry you feel the heaviness ...how is it today? 🫂

Another couple of upsetting days re the aggressive neighbour lady...all the other 4 tenants including me have now put in a complaint about her, and the real estate agent said she would send her a warning in a letter. So we are all braced for her reaction / retribution 😣 I have held off complaining about her for 7 years as it's not something I'm comfortable with, but the lady is escalating and we all live in fear of her which is not peaceful.

On Thursday I remembered at the last minute that there was a planned power outage at work! So I didn't have to go in after all. I went in yesterday instead.

Last night there was an attempt to break into next door's property so today I need to go round and warn them. (Not the 5 houses on this property.) I had been hoping for 2 nice days completely at home. Oh well. Hoping for some sunshine later today.

It sounds like you do your walking in the late afternoon?

Good luck with whatever you decide to do today. I need to empty and wash some grocery bags as I'm out of bags.

Oh dear it does sound difficult @NatureLover. She sounds quite unpredictable.

We've had some pilfering of parcels here and cars broken into. It's unsettling, especially when it seems likely that locals are responsible. Someone up the street claims to have recognised a parcel thief on CCTV.

Yes, I've usually walked in the afternoon. It's a pleasant time except in the heat of summer. My energy is at a low ebb or I'd do more. I did a bit of gardening today but didn't manage as much as I'd hoped to. Did you deal with your shopping bags? Tomorrow I'll try again.

Hi @Dimity , sorry you've had some petty crime around there too 😣

I've had the impression you enjoy gardening, but yesterday's sounded like a bit of a chore? Maybe due to your low energy. 🫂

I'm writing this on my phone...having a bad day. Haven't even switched on my computer or had a proper breakfast, just 2 supplement drinks. I did go out and sit in the sun for half an hour, and also started a laundry wash. No grocery bags though. Now lying down reading inside.

I think it'll be a nice afternoon if you go to walk. I'll try and go outside again with my book. I hope you can get done a little of what you want. 💚

Sending best wishes and a virtual hug @NatureLover

I hope having a rest day is restorative for you.

Gardening is a Good Thing and grounding, and I love the plants and flowers, but I can't do very much at a time as I don't feel well enough. I rest and recover after even a short stint.

I'm going to peg out my second load of washing then venture out.

I hope your day improves! And that you can manage some lunch. I'm a bit concerned.
