Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

Hi @NatureLover I trust your anxiety dissipated - it's a horrible feeling. Not such a good drying day today for your wash. I agree with your strategy - I usually start with the washing and washing-up.

I'd like to achieve more order before resting on my laurels with maintenance. Today I cleaned and tidied for an hour and a half and it looks much the same, but I'm glad I did it. Hopefully I'll get back into a routine.

I'm over-invested in current affairs. It's been my main interest for a while but most news is disappearing behind paywalls so it's been harder to get my fix.

Dentist Monday, psychologist Wednesday, vet Thursday. All make me nervous.

Your roses sound lovely. My Troilus is now out - a lovely ivory with deeper shadings.

Hi @Dimity , thanks. Yesterday I managed to do some tidying to work out the anxious energy for a while. I seem to have swopped anxiety for depression this morning. But it's not too bad. I might go back to bed for a while though this morning...it's so gloomy outside.

Well done for tidying for 1 1/2 hours! 👍

I remember during Covid I was over-invested in current affairs, like you said.

Gosh, you have a hard and expensive week coming up...good luck with it all. Hope your anxiety about the appts is manageable.

I googled Troilus rose and it's pretty - with pointy petals.

Hugs @NatureLover ... anxiety and depression and a cold grey wet day... not the best.

Yes Troilus is nice. It's a David Austin (English) Rose. My Crepuscule is tall and has fallen over a bit with the weight of the rain on the flowers.

Today I continued with some of the tidying I started yesterday. Papers, mainly. I'll follow on with it if I can.

I hope you enjoy work tomorrow, and feel better after a slow day today.

Hi @Dimity , thinking of you as you have the dentist today...I hope it goes well and that it doesn't turn out to be too expensive or painful... 🤞

I googled Crepuscule rose - it's gorgeous! But yes, such big heads - no wonder it falls over when wet. Is it highly scented?

I'm taking a mental health day off work today. I actually don't feel too depressed, but as I never take holidays, I feel I could do with a break sometimes. It depends on how I feel on the day, but my boss is very supportive as her daughter has MH issues. I might pop out for groceries later.

Well done on tidying your papers - papers are so time consuming and can be stressful.

Hope you enjoyed your day off @NatureLover .

The Crepuscule rose has a sweet but not strong fragrance, I notice the dendrobium orchid and native frangipani tree more. I might cut some roses to bring inside to reduce the weight, but it's already recovered a little.

I survived the dentist by counting breaths - all good. I did some housework afterward then napped. The papers I went through on the weekend weren't too bad but I need to progress to some of the harder ones. I'll try to get back to it tomorrow.

I had to google Desert Rose @Shaz51 - it looks lovely. So many different things you can grow in the tropics.

The optometrist said my new glasses might be ready tomorrow @Shaz51 @NatureLover

Oh gosh, @Dimity ! Such an expensive week for you, if you pay for your new glasses tomorrow, plus your 3 other expensive appts this week 😮

But I hope the new glasses really help, and maybe will help you get back into reading books again (if you want). (I know the lighting in your reading nook is a problem)

I'm glad you survived the dentist, anyway.

I didn't enjoy my day off and by the end of it I wished I'd gone into work! But I think the gloomy weather's not helping. I did go out grocery shopping and bought the ingredients for a mushroom and spinach gnocchi in creamy garlic sauce that I saw on Facebook. But I need to clean off the stuff on the stovetop (again) in order to cook it.

You have orchids too, wow 🙂 Your garden sounds gorgeous, it must be absolutely stunning.

I don't know yet what to do today. Good luck with your papers...

The gnocchi dish sounds super tasty @NatureLover - worth clearing the stove for. Sorry you had a bad day yesterday. Some days are like that. I had an off day today. Instead of tidying more papers I did a little work outside.

I've already paid for the glasses. And I understand the gap fee for the psychologist will be very small. But the vet will be expensive. It should all be worthwhile though.

The wind is strong tonight, but I'm thankful we still have the trees.

I hope you have a better day tomorrow @NatureLover.
