Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

Dear @Emelia8 , thank you so much for your encouraging reply, setting out what I can expect and explaining things. ❤️ I really appreciate it.

I am still dreading today's appt - the germs and the tests - which could take up to 4 hours I was told.

I did follow your journey with breast cancer, which is one reason I have fears. It was traumatic, what you went through. 😞

I'm so glad you got the all-clear!

Thanks again ❤️

Yes I realise today will be difficult for you @NatureLover , and not just due to the testing. I hope things dont reach the biopsy stage for you, and they are able to rule out cancer during the xray or ultrasound stages. Calling to the universe for that to be the case.

Unfortunately, once you have had cancer, it seems you are never really "in the clear". I still have constant discomfort from the surgery site and daily reminders thanks to physical distortion and disfigurement. Not to mention the ghastly medication I take every day to try to ward off a recurrence of the cancer. And the side effects of said medication. 😔

I have my own 6 monthly xrays and ultrasounds that I need to book in for. Yours is a reminder that I should do that this week. So yeah, its a lifetime thing. You're never really rid of it, once its in your system.

Wishing you the best today. If you need someone to sit with you, I'm here. I realise there will likely be lots of sitting around and waiting in between testing and nurse/Dr consultations.

Emelia 🌷

Thank you @Emelia8 for your wishes to the Universe and for being here with me ❤

I've had my first lot of mammograms and am waiting while they review them to see if I need more.

I'm sorry - I realise that you are always on edge, about whether the cancer returns. I'm sorry to hear you have to go through this process every 6 months 😥
