Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

Great to see you here, dear @Anastasia ! Thanks so much for popping in ❤️ with bugs 🐛🐜 and ☕ and 🌞!

You've brought the sunshine with you, as I saw this morning on the local weather forecast a little part-sun on the next 7 days!! Amazing.

I've been wondering how things are going with your boy, with your mum, and your new business? Also how your sleep's going?

Sending lots of 💚 and care back...

@Former-Member you wrote this on the Pride Month Topic Tuesday thread:

"And also, when you meet a trans person, please respect their privacy and don’t ask them about their transition."

Thanks so much for this, as I would have thought it would show interest and affirmation to ask. But of course, it's their private business.

(I'm posting this on "my" thread as the Topic Tuesday thread is locked)

I'm not doing so well. I got some calls yesterday at work which I missed...I only got them after 5. I've been called back to Breastscreen tomorrow at 9am for half a day of tests, due to something wrong in my recent mammogram. It's at a hospital so I'm freaking out about germs. Apparently they will be able to tell me tomorrow after the tests if I have breast cancer, although the biopsy results take a week I think.

Sorry to hear that @NatureLover . As you know, I have been through exactly that myself, less than 2 years ago. I was told that only a very small percentage of people who are called back for further testing actually have breast cancer. So the odds are against you having cancer. However as I, and many others who have a breast cancer diagnosis every year, know there are an unfortunate few who do have breast cancer. And these days, the very important thing to remember is that it is almost always caught in its early stages, before it spreads. That means treatment is very very effective.

I'm glad that you are in for the necessary tests so quickly, less time to worry. And the sooner you are cleared the better. On the unlikely chance that it is cancer, then the sooner its treated the better the outcome.

Your concerns over germaphobia at the hospital I think should be the lesser evil right now, so please try your best to see past that. It will soon be over. I have my fingers and toes crossed that all is okay and that whatever it is that is showing up on your mammogram, is benign.

Thinking of you tomorrow, as I know its a really stressful time. As for what they will likely do ... they will probably redo the mammogram, in a more detailed fashion. Then if the area of concern is still there, they will do an ultrasound to try to clarify matters. Those results will be known on the day by the Dr on duty. If they are unable to definitely rule out cancer, to be on the safe side, they will order a needle biopsy of any lump. And yes, that will likely take a week or so for results to come back.

A worrying time, because if it gets to the biopsy stage then they do suspect cancer. The biopsy is used to confirm their suspicion and to provide a grading and staging of the cancer for further treatment decisions. Although it is not definitive until those results come back, I knew by the end of the day that I had cancer. They just didn't actually say so. My Mum had died of breast cancer only a year prior, and I knew in my heart that the biopsy would confirm a cancer diagnosis. It was just a matter of finding out how bad it was.

Anyway ... you @NatureLover will be one of the 90% of women, who needed further assessment after initial screening, who do NOT have breast cancer. 🙏
