Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

Hey @Anastasia @NatureLover

@NatureLover I’ve had an anxiety ring sitting in my eBay cart for weeks! I have large hands- I hate them, so just wondering if it will fit me, it’s the I lt thing that has stopped me from following through with the purchase. It’s the same as the one you posted.

@Anastasia I’ve read bits and pieces of your new business adventure and I know that you can’t go into full details, but from what I’ve read it’s perhaps a cafe? Could be mistaken. But if it is, that’s exciting. It’s something that I’ve always wanted to do. Place that I use to live in tassie, they had a drop in type cafe, I enjoyed popping in. Opportunity to sit down and chat about life, get support.
I’m really sorry to read about your mum too. I hope that she will allow you to go along and support her at the gp and is honest about where things are at for her. It’s sad, yet so often the case, when they lose their life long partner.

👍

@Bow I want to build a community, a safe place one that my boy and Mum feel like it's their second home 🏠💞 One that people look forward to visiting. Already people are excited 🙏

I didn't understand the abbreviation re the ring sorry bit vague obviously haha. I hope if you want to order one you can Bow. Mine is rose gold and the entire centre spins. If I ordered the right size it will go on middle finger of right hand. I hope it helps, thank you @NatureLover for making me finally just order one!

Tell me to mind my business Bow, I can't possibly know what it's like for you, I wish it wasn't though. I have always had a live hate relationship with food. I was accused if having an ED as a teenager from friends parents. I still feel guilty when I eat some foods. I trained my brain to think of food as fuel that my body needs a bit like petrol for my car. It helps.

I hope it's ok I shared this. By turning around the reason why I ate (fuel) helped me stop worrying so much about eating.

It's pouring here, torrential. I've got alot done today. The place was neglected over the past few weeks, cluttered and dirty.

I've made a pile to take to work tomorrow as well as Vinnie's. Cleaned my ensuite finally and getting there but baby steps to preserve some energy for the week ahead.

Hello also to you @Shaz51 @Eve7 @Emelia8

No, @NatureLover I won’t get someone else. It’s a 12 week program for people who have attempted suicide. I think she wants to link me with services but I’m not keen.

Today was another day of sporting wins but there was a bit of a mishap so not everyone was happy with the outcome. Strange as it may seem officials make mistakes too…big learning curve for some.

How was your weekend? 💚💛🦆💛💚 we’ve had more rain ☔️

I’m excited for you @Anastasia it sounds amazing! Excited to somewhat follow the journey along with you…. As much as we can on here with the guidelines.

Totally ok to share, please share whenever you like. I think that’s one thing that I struggle with with telling people about my food struggles…. I use to love food…. I still do. I love good quality tasting food. I’m not thin for that reason! Most people I know… close friends, will know that about me, that h love my food. I guess it’s hard for me to talk about my struggles without feeling judged, or not believed about my ED. And I’ve heard it first hand… ‘what you?’ When telling someone I have anorexia. It’s the stereotype, the misconception, the stigma, that all people with anorexia are underweight, when it’s actually Only a small % that are underweight.

i went to my friends birthday party tonight. There was pizza and cake. I ate pizza and cake. And will now punish myself because of it. I want to educate people.
yea food is fuel. It’s nourishment. It’s moving away from labeling food as good and bad. Food is food.

anyhow. I’ve crawled into bed. I slept 6 hrs when I got home this morning and I’m tired again.
love to you @Anastasia and also to you @NatureLover @Eve7 @Shaz51 @outlander @Emelia8

Hi @Bow ...the anxiety ring says that they're "adjustable" but I found I couldn't adjust it smaller or bigger. I'm going to order another one in my size.

So lovely to have you chatting on my thread 🙂 💜

And thanks for educating us about EDs. I had bulimia for a year in Year 12...I stopped when I started getting chest pains. I am learning a lot from you.

@Anastasia it sounds like you achieved a lot yesterday 👍

I didn't achieve much on the weekend but I badly needed to rest and slow things down, so that was good I had a little time to do that.

I'm intending to wear my anxiety ring on the little finger of my left hand. Have emailed the company I bought the first ring from to see if they can make me one to size.

Busy busy already this morning with phone calls etc so got to keep moving. Good luck with your Mum's GP appt and all you have on this week. Sending 💚, ☕, 🌞 and wishes...
