Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

Thanks, dear friend...I spent 3 days in bed with depression, not being able to face anything. Am up out of bed now. Lots of medical appts this week so I have to be up.

I hope your work this week is not too demanding, with all you have on your plate 😞

Thanks for the thoughtful emoticons too.

💚☕

You're in my thoughts.

All the best with your medical appointments. I think you're courageous pushing through.

Hugs and all you need @NatureLover

Hi @Anastasia ...been wondering how the 'team meeting' went yesterday for your Dad? They were going to give him his options I think? 💔

I feel a whole lot better after my dentist appt yesterday. It only took 20 minutes to replace a filling instead of 45 mins - I'd been dreading it, but afterwards my mood improved. There is also Covid at work...my psychiatrist yesterday said he thought it was better to keep going in rather than sit at home for 6 months with negative, fearful thoughts. I am still nervous as I'm subject to 'breakthrough Covid' due to the diabetes and asthma, despite being triple vaccinated.

I am thinking of you lots and hoping that you, your Mum and your Dad are coping...

Sending lots of 💚 and hugs....

Wonderful news about dentist @NatureLover

Gosh sorry you also have Covid at work, it's so stressful. I agree with your pdoc about going rather than sitting around but gosh I also know how stressful it is!! Hoping you can manage it NL and stay safe.

I can't get my hands on any rapid tests and I would like to be safe and test before seeing Dad but they aren't anywhere here. Such a difficult existance at present.

Thinking of you lots too and hoping for some light for both of us soon x

Am so sorry 😞 I really hope you can get some RATs soon...could you get your older son /friends to look out for some for you maybe? I am cross at the government for not ordering enough in earlier - the effect on people is tragic, like in your circumstance 😞

Is your Dad still at home? I am hoping there could maybe be some carers coming in...

I disinfected all the phone, keyboard, desk etc yesterday but there's so many other things we all touch, like paperwork, the photocopier, the doors, the staplers etc. Oh well, if I get too fearful about it I will only sit at home refusing to go anywhere, and that's not a life I want. I'm actually very lucky my germophobia isn't worse than it is...it's still 'moderate'.

I read about your amazing camping weekend and it made me happy 🙂

Sending wishes for RATs, that you and you Mum can cope (and you Dad too), that you Dad doesn't suffer, that your boy is getting help and hope in hospital, that you can sleep more than you have been, for enough support for you when you need it, for strength and endurance and what you need when you (all) need it.

Plus sending warm hugs and much 💚

Thank you dear @NatureLover the RAT situation is beyond a joke. I am arranging some for work so IF I can secure some then I will purchase some for my family off the back of the order, my manager is ok with this.

Dads at home for now, palliative team next week I believe. He'll need to go to hospital for another drain and then the plan is they will send him home with a permanent one and a Nurse to attend. He's being stubborn and it's a difficult situation for my mum. Just supporting as much as I can. I go there daily and help with errands or just to be there.

My boy saw his Dr today so I need to touch base and learn of any changes.

My older son has stayed the last two nights now that he's recovered and it's been like a breath of fresh air.

I'm so proud that you go to work, you're doing better than me. I'm going in on Sunday for a few hours just so I don't have to be around people on the Monday. Positive case was there this week and so they could all be infected for all.i know. Not going to take my chances.

Gee I sound like a crazy woman!

Hugs and love and everything you need,

Take care and I hope you can enjoy some sun to refill your cup over the weekend dear friend 🌄☀️💚

Snap, we are here at the same time @Anastasia ! 🙂

That is such a great idea to go in to work on the Sunday instead of when other staff are there. Can you also disinfect the things you'll need to use in the office? I am sending wishes you don't get Covid (and no-one in your family does) due to the situation with your Dad.

I really hope you can find the RATs to order through work... 🤞

Thanks for the update re your Dad and Mum. It's good of you to go every day to help, what with work as well. So pleased you've had the "breath of fresh air" of your older son staying.

We've got sun, we've got humidity, we've got more sun and more humidity! It's so hot that I can't walk in the daytime, only early morning and evening. But the sun is helping my mood 🙂

Sending much 💚

Aww, not sure how I brought a smile to your face, but I'm all puffed up with pleasure that I did, lol. @Anastasia 😄 You need all the smiles you can get.

Here are some morning ☕☕☕...

I notice you were quiet yesterday, so am hoping you are coping OK...

I feel I have fully psyched up that I might get Covid from work. I have stocked up on food and today am going to the library to stock up on books. I feel pleased as this was something my psychologist wanted me to accept, that we will all get Covid in the coming months. I do feel it's better to get Omicron than Delta...I think it's mostly Omicron around now.

Having said that, I am still sending wishes that none of you or your family get Covid, my dear friend...

It's cooled down today finally, after a week of humidity. I can't wait to get outside! I'm a nature addict, as well as a book addict and a food addict...

I am hoping that today - your one precious day off this weekend - provides just what you need, in terms of some rest, some time with your Dad and Mum, some time to yourself, some inner strength, and peace if possible. I know 'peace' must sound impossible right now...but it doesn't hurt for me to wish for it for you.

I'm not sure if you're allowed to visit your boy due to Covid or due to any other rules of the hospital...?

You are a treasure to all who know you, I know that. 💚
