Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

Hello my beautiful friend...

Finally an opportunity to visit. Boy it's been a rollercoaster. Things have settled for today so I just wanted to thank you from the bottom of my soul for all of your beautiful heart felt messages of support. Honestly it made a difference just knowing that you were here for me. 🙏💞🌷

A busy week with a specialist for both my boy and I and a new support to start for my boy. Working from home so need to stay as focused as I can to catch up on work as I have two days off this week ✔️😁

How are you? What's happening in your world? @NatureLover

Arghhhh you're in lockdown, are you ok?

Hello dear lady, thanks so much for visiting! So pleased that things have settled for today and you have a whole day to do as you like/need. Also glad that you can work from home all next week, that's a relief. Also pleased you can see a specialist for yourself this week - this sounds like self care, good for you 🙂

It's my pleasure to try to support you - you do an amazing job of supporting a wide range of people on here - you must be one of those people who are super-efficient in life, with all you have to do. I admire those people but am not one of them, lol.

Your two days off sound good also although it sounds like they have important appts on them...good luck with those, and with the new support person for your boy this week 🤞

Yes, I'm in lockdown in Melbourne, which I usually find fine, but this time is a little harder, not sure why. Thankfully I can still work which is keeping me sane, haha. Can also go for 2 hours' walk per day, so everything's fine - I'm not sure what my problem is. But I am nearly at an emergency book situation 😄 - running out of library books! Oh, the horror! 😄

It's my neighbour who is really struggling - she has 3 kids and is a single mum with no income coming in during the lockdown. She also hates lockdown, and the government for doing it. All last year she ranted at me about it, and it contributed to my depression...I had to say something gently in the end. So now she is considerately not ranting at me about it, but is depressed and angry and struggling. 😞 I'm worried about her.

Nothing for you to worry about - just feeling chatty this morning. I got up early then went back to bed and slept till 9.15! Unusual. But it was pretty cold this morning. Am on my second coffee and 2 hot cross buns - Coles were selling them last week! Just to discombobulate us all 😄

Hope today is good and you can get some 'me time'... 💚

Thank you for your "chatty" reply. Its nice.

Oh I am sorry you are struggling, not surprising though. It would be awful. Having two young adults with the limitations in place here at times was a nightmare so I can't even imagine there.

Do you have a reading app or books themselves? I do like to hold a book rather than an iPad. Emergency book... I'm glad you have something to take your mind off being locked down. Reading is the best.

I'm also glad you can still get to work. That would assist in keeping your head above water.

Arghhh your neighbour. I feel for you both. Its awful when someone negatively grates and sucks on your own energy.

My Naturopath taught me to imagine sucking in all of their words like you're inhaling through your mouth and then when your lungs are full blow it back at the person. They will stop. As their energy is full again and they haven't had to pull from you. Does that make sense? Try it. It works for me. 😁😄

I do love hot cross buns, enjoy and good on Coles for looking after you guys.

On that note I must get up and eat and have a coffee.

Enjoy your day beautiful @NatureLover

🌸💕🌷

Yes, I like just chatting 🙂 @Anastasia

I shouldn't say I'm struggling - not compared to my neighbour, or to you with your two young adults, or others who have it tough - I really feel I'm fortunate to live by myself. It's all fine, really. I would like to do some meditation this afternoon though, to find out why I'm finding this lockdown harder than usual.

I much prefer tangible books...I don't even have the library app for borrowing e-books. It might come to that though! 😄 Although I have 20 library reservations, which is the maximum allowed, so that might prevent me from borrowing an e-book.

Thanks so much for the tip about energy. It sounds fascinating. Just the though of sucking in all that negative energy causesd all my defences to rise...but I will try it, as you say it works!

I hadn't actually thought that the hot cross buns was Coles looking after us in lockdown - but you're right, it must be. Thanks. I might thank the Coles bakery staff if they still have the hot cross buns tomorrow.

No reply needed, as you have got up and started your day!

Much 💚

My dear friends, have any of you had the Covid vaccination yet? I'm due to have mine tomorrow, and am pretty nervous about it. I have severe asthma, so am worried about an anaphylactic reaction, even though I'm not sure they are related... Or maybe a respiratory reaction as well.

Plus I need to drive an hour each way to have it, and I'm really stressed due to my agoraphobia. An hour each way is my absolute limit for driving, and a huge deal. A new route and a new suburb destination too.

I am even updating my Will today, that's how nervous I am about the vaccination!

Oh dear @NatureLover I can sense the intense anxiety you are feeling. I haven't had the jab yet, as my age group was only announced this week to be eligible for the phzier vac. There's such long waiting times at vaccination points near where I live, plus I've got this cold, which prevents me

from getting the jab. I was booked for the flu shot.

but had to postpone it.

If I had severe asthma, like you do,'I'd be worried also. Have you discussed these concerns with your GP? I assume you have, but that probably hasn't eased your anxiety.

Is there someone that can come on the drive with you? That may make things easier.
by the sounds of it you live in an area with zero cases - you could always postpone your jab until you feel comfortable about the whole situation?

Not sure if I've helped or not, but I do understand where you are coming from. 🤗💞

Oh @NatureLover

You are brave. I understand your concerns.

My Mum and Dad had it last week.

Mum had no symptoms and Dad was extremely sick with flu symptoms for 24 hours m

and then came good. Neither have asthma but as you know Dad has cancer and he also already had a cold!!!!

I am happy to join you tomorrow? I spent countless trips with @Emelia8 in her pocket whilst she drove to and from her lengthy trips to hospital. I'm sure she'd come to and we can have a few laughs along the way.

Definitely let the dr know of your concerns. Again, I think you are brave. Love and hugs dear @NatureLover 💕

@NatureLover Ditto to what Anastasia said - you are so brave!' We'll both be in your pocket on your drives back and forth..

but please do check with your GP regarding your concerns.

My mum had her astra jab last week, and was just a bit tired that night and slept in the next day. Otherwise, ok

Re: Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Dear @WIP , thank you for your lovely and very much appreciated support

The thing is, I haven't been able to discuss my worries with my long-term trusted GP as she has taken extended leave due to illness 😞

Perhaps I should have made an appt with some other GP to discuss it.

I don't want to postpone my jab as I want to have the Pfizer one, and I'm coming up to 50, when after 50 it's the Astra Zeneca one. That's why I have to travel an hour, as there's no clinics doing Pfizer in my area. I will just have to be brave! I'm psyching up as best I can...

Thanks for telling me about your mum's reaction, and I'm glad for her that all she felt was tired, no aches, pains or fever.

I really hope your bad cold gets better quickly 💙
