Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

Brrrr! @NatureLover If it was 4° here the heater would be on for sure but it was 15° inside and 10° outside. It was ever so toasty warm in bed though! 😂 Getting up is the hardest part of winter.
Yes I always do floors on Friday that way if anyone visited on the weekend the floors were clean. At least in the main rooms 😂

@Escaped_Goat 15 inside is OK, I agree, no need for the heater. I'm impressed that you do the floors every Friday. I do mine when needed...

You didn't say how you were...that's a thing I do when not feeling well, but you have been chatty so I am hoping you are OK. No need to say anything if you'd rather not.

I am trying to remember to take a Vitamin D tablet every cloudy day. Someone told me that I really need to take one every day as it's a cumulative effect...maybe I should be doing that. I'm going to put some bread on after 9am so that it will be ready at lunchtime. The rest of the day is a whole heap of scattered horrible chores (got a long list of little stuff) and no walks.

My hands are all cracked as I wash them so much and I don't like putting cream on them as it's all slimy. So it's my own fault I guess, but hurts anyway. I use a lot of band-aids when they get like this.

How often does your dog have seizures? I hope she will be OK today.

@NatureLover I'm weird about the floors I think. If I'm sitting here and can see paw prints or anything it bugs me... like an itch you just have to scratch.

I'm okay.. I think. Not feeling particularly strong this morning but I'm determined not to wallow. There are things to do!

Yeah I think vitamin D is one of those that needs to build up and if you don't need it you just create expensive urine.

I use Swiss Just hand cream it's definitely not slimy and it's really healing. I'd give you a sample size if we lived close so you could try to see if you liked it. My son and his partner love it. Their hands get awful from their jobs.. hers from constant washing and his from handling boxes.

Fortunately.. or unfortunately.. depending on how you look at it.. my dog has seizures infrequently. Maybe twice a year but has increased to three a year now. The duration and severity has increased though. Because they are infrequent they can't really medicate her to prevent them but it also means that they will avoid surgeries that are cosmetic in nature. So she has these huge lipomas on her because she is elderly but they won't remove them unless they are hindering her from walking or eating or breathing.. which they aren't. But the biggest is larger than a tennis ball on the side of her chest and she's a small dog so sometimes people abuse me because they think it's something nasty that's wrong with her. I take her to the vet every 3 months to have these monitored and measured because she has one up on her collar bone that could potentially cause issues if it grows too large. Elderly, epileptic, small dogs do not do well under anaesthesia so all we can do is hope she doesn't need it.
She is still a bit wonky after yesterday. Nothing anyone who didn't know her well would notice but she's sticking close to the edges rather than the middle of the room and her gait is slightly off somehow. She still knows how to ask for her blanket though so it's all good! 🙂

Thanks - such a sweet idea 🙂 Sometimes my hands are fine, and sometimes cracked. I don't know how to explain it - maybe the amount of water I drink varies.

Sorry to hear your poor girl's seizures are slowly increasing. And about the lipomas, and about the abuse you cop! Poor girl - I wonder if it takes longer to recover from each seizure the older she gets?

The breadmaker is whirring away and I don't want to do any of my chores. The only one I want to do is "Find my gloves" - this is for when in bed. The heater doesn't reach the bedroom. Do you have anything planned for today?

Hi @JoJo173 , how are your OCD traits behaving? Do you think they've got worse since this Covid-19 crisis? Hope you're doing well...

@NatureLover I'm with you today.. I have yet to move except to make more coffee. The weather is not conducive to chore doing!
It's raining again so no chance of walking even rugged up.. I don't fancy getting drenched.
I will do the floors today... just not sure when. 😂

As far as something fun or self care? Maybe sew more bowl cozies? Find some other quick project to do that I have the materials for?

Haha, @Escaped_Goat , I didn't even have to mention self care / fun things today, you mentioned them yourself 🙂 Do you have enough thread (I think that's what the bobbin means) to do more bowl cozies?

I feel better somehow knowing that the weather makes other people not want to do chores either.

I have to get the bins in but it's been raining solid all morning. Have you seen that Facebook page, "Bin Isolation Outing"? (I hope I'm allowed to mention this - I have nothing to do with this page, I just heard about it.) People getting dressed up in costumes to take out their bins...it's funny and lighthearted.

@NatureLover I do have plenty of thread. I just didn't feel like loading the bobbin again yesterday.
I haven't heard of that Facebook page.. sounds fun. I'm going to look now.

Hi @NatureLover, my OCD issues have maybe increased a little with the COVID19, cause of my daughter being home a lot more. Have been cleaning up more often after her. I have days that are more of a struggle than others. For me yesterday was a struggle. Feeling better today, thank You Lord!Thank you for asking though! Hope you're well too.☺️

Hi @JoJo173 , sorry to hear yesterday was a struggle, glad today is better for you. I think more people have germophobia at the moment and also maybe anxiety-related stuff like OCD. Do you maybe have regular supports that aren't happening at the moment due to lockdown?

@Escaped_Goat I reckon lighthearted / comic relief is a good distraction. Better than the distraction of chores lol.
