Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

Dear @Emelia8 , your message really warmed my heart, thank you heaps And the beautiful nature picture...I really appreciate it all.

Yes, work went well thanks, the bullying-lady-who-has-been-a-bit-better-lately was away today, so I got my work finished. I have my psychologist tomorrow, so we will talk about the burnout. I don't think it has shifted much...maybe a little.

Oh gosh - the side effects worse after the radiation has finished? I hope it eases sooner rather than later - preferably in one week rather than two. So that means this week...maybe? Hopefully? It must be pretty awful not being able to get comfortable in bed. 😞 Is your furbaby still improving? I know you have a vet visit tomorrow to check on her progress...I hope it goes well.

Yes, it's been hot but not extreme, thankfully. Cooler weather for 3 days as of tomorrow. How has it been up there?

Hello @NatureLover

I hope your appointment went well yesterday?

I had you in my thoughts 💞

Aww, thanks for thinking of me, sweet @Anastasia and for the lovely pictures. My appt went well, we reviewed the burnout and agreed that it's still there, we will review it each month when I see her. She told me she's having a baby in the middle of this year, so that will be a challenge for me, as although I only see her once a month, I really rely on those visits and save all my hard stuff for those appts.

I really hope that you are getting all you need and are looking after yourself, as you have so many people that you look after, and once burnout starts, it could be a long while till it's resolved, as I'm finding. I know with your carer role for your son you are on call 24/7, so it's not that easy, I know. I just hope you can get enough time for yourself, to do renewing things. 💙

@Emelia8 I was so please to read about the good news about your furbaby. 🙂

I'm also glad you finally see your psychologist next week!

I hope you have a good day with your sister if she ends up coming today.

Oh gosh, @Anastasia ...can you sort out some 'me' time this weekend? Where you can just relax and be yourself? Sounds crucial to me...I really hope you can. Sending much 💙 and good thoughts and wishes to you...

I'm sorry the burnout is still there for you 😔

Me time sounds amazing but honestly I would not even know where to begin with that @NatureLover 😔

The week away just reinforced how :pile_of_poo: things are and Mum and Dad came last night and saw first hand how :pile_of_poo: things can be. I spent two hours in my car in the garage (a convertible so tiny) just to escape but I had to come back in and now here I am...

I don't want you to feel sorry for me as I really am ok just sad. Sad for what it all is and not able to change things. I honestly cannot remember when I was truly happy. I appreciate you reaching out, I feel safe writing here. I think my Mum's heart broke a little for me last night, which in turn breaks mine 😔

Oh @Anastasia , I'm sad and also glad that you spent 2 hours in the garage just to escape...sad because that was your only option, and proud of you that you took the time out.

What would it look like if you told the people in your life that you can't go on like you are, you need some 'me' time or you're risking burnout / a breakdown? (You might not be, but on the other hand, it can happen to anyone.) Obviously you'd have to still prioritise your sons and your parents... But could you start blocking out 3 hours on a Sat and Sunday just for you? Not to catch up on chores, but just to sit in the sun outside, or even soak in the bath...actually tell people that it's critical for you to go on functioning...could you consider that?

I know you said you can't change things, but I honestly think you have to change things, even just a little, @Anastasia ...

💙
