Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

@NatureLover No, my student doesn’t pay me. It’s just something we both like to do. She keeps me searching for new challenges, so it’s really good in that way.

I haven’t worked on cards before. I think The shiny surface would be better. Also the white made the colours looks insipid. I’ll leave a pic. I can’t use it because of the smudges on the white that I failed to fix , look awful. It’s a learning curve.

@Maggie , I think your card is absolutely beautiful. It's a shame you can't use it! I don't think the colours look insipid. I can see some smudges in the bottom right hand corner, but that doesn't detract from the lovely mix of colours for me. I could look at it for ages - as with all your work.

I like how you and your painting student enjoy what you do. How on earth did you find her?

My psychologist has agreed that I can stay here on my thread, but she doesn't want me to do any CG duties for 2 months at least. I will have to let people know. I'm relieved that I can stay connected here.

@Emelia8 just tagging you in my news above.

@NatureLover I’ve been waiting to hear your news.👂👂

That’s really good you can stay connected. 👍👍👍👍

I hope your weather is the same as Tassie. It’s a perfect day weather wise.☀️☀️

I found my painting lady at the village I lived in before I moved here. She told me she didn’t have any creative talent at all. She has changed her mind. She’s 89 , and is a delight.

I hope your afternoon is going well. Lots of 💕💕💕

Awww, @Maggie , you're so sweet! Thank you

It must feel good to have helped your painting student to find her creative talent 🙂 I am glad she's a delight for you. And how lovely for her to discover new talents at that age.

It's sunny and 25 here, so it's gorgeous, yes. I see you have sunny and 19, which is similar. 🙂

I'm going to lie down now and do my meditation /recharge /relax thing. Then a nice slow walk later this afternoon. My latest food obsession is Weeties, so at least that's healthy, lol.

Happy I can stay in contact with you and others here. Take care 🧡

@NatureLover I hope your afternoon yesterday was as relaxing as you had hoped it would be.

I saw my counsellor in the morning, always a good time for me. Then I pulled out some silverbeet that had gone to seed.

I had a lovely time, thought short, watching two doves sleeping on the straw I recently put on my garden. It must have had the right temperature for an afternoon nap.

Weeties. Yes, healthy. A break from baked beans. I can’t face them at the moment. I think I overdid it in winter. I’m very much into ice blocks, but looking forward to some tomatoes from my garden. I have some tiny ones now, so not far away. Tomatoes on toast, with a bit of garlic. Yum.

I hope today is relaxing in your world. The sun is out here, and it looks like a sunny day ahead. ☀️☀️

Take care. 💕💕💕💕

Freshly picked tomatoes, yum! And they sound really yummy with garlic on toast! @Maggie

Do you have the ice blocks in drinks? Do you like iced coffee? I really like iced coffee.

Your garden sounds like it brings you much joy, including the bird life there.

Yes, yesterday afternoon was relaxing and I had a lovely long slow walk in nature. Today I really need to tackle the house...I am having to step over stuff on the floor, and the kitchen is unfunctional. The state of the house is so bad that I'm unsure whether to go out with the other volunteers to lunch today. Plus I really need a day (or three) at home. I will decide a bit later in the morning.

Hi @Maggie , I just saw your new thread in my email notifications, and am really glad you tagged me, thank you. That way I know what's going on for you, and also I don't feel left out.

I heard myself saying, all I do is paint stones.

That's not all you do, Maggie. You listen - really hear people; you lift them up; you really care about others; you have just the right words to encourage them when things are dark. You love people who are outside the box - which is so incredibly needed in this world. (Have never used underlining before, but I feel strongly about this!)

So many successful stories. Don’t get me wrong, I like to hear how well others are doing, but unfortunately I am the black sheep.

I am too - I also did 4 years at Bible College for missionary training. However, I see both you and myself as successes. We battle unimaginable MI difficulties, and yet we have survived, are still alive in this hard world and are thriving as much as we both can - you with your beautiful garden and your painting and your painting student and your furbaby, me with my volunteer job and getting to all my many medical appointments and loving finding peace in nature. We both have a history of abuse - yours being incredibly awful, as much as I can read between the lines - I didn't know about the convent abuse as well. 😞

The work you do here on the forums is not something many people could face. I know because people tell me that (about myself), and also I've seen in awe what you do here. Could those people who you heard about last week do this work? Perhaps not. Could they have survived what you have survived in life? Perhaps not.

I am just so impressed with you facing up to your history of terrible abuse, on the journey of healing. The pain must be unspeakable. 😞

💜

(I feel OK about writing all this, by the way. It hasn't drained me at all. I felt strongly that I wanted to respond.)

@NatureLover Just a quick Thankyou.

I’m leave it here for today and respond better tomorrow. I’m very aware of where you are at, but soooooooooooooooo grateful for your response.

Please take care for the rest of today. I hope the cleaning, if it is happening, is going ok, if it’s not happening, it will wait. ( unfortunately). ❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️
