Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

@NatureLover I just came by to see if there was an update from you.

Lovely to see you.

A trial extended period might work. I think it’s a matter of seeing how you feel after each day. I understand wanting to know how everyone is, it’s really hard.

My furbaby is back to her normal self. I don’t know what happened, but all good now.

I hope you get your shoulder/arm seen to. Pain is very draining on mental health. Leaving it might cause more damage.

Please take care. Looking like a few hot days up your way. Do you have aircon ? 💕💕🍓🍓🍓

Re: Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Thank you @NatureLover 🙏🌸

My plans for the weekend? Not a lot. I do need to get to the supermarket at some stage over coming few days. Just about out of fresh fruit, veges, bread, milk, etc.

This morning I have a dentist appointment to finish off my cracked tooth root canal. Its been happening in stages since August now. But today will be final.

This afternoon hubby and I have his Dads funeral service from 5.30pm. It is being live streamed, which is good for the Eastern Staters who are unable to get to WA. Not the same as being there, but next best I guess. Just hope the system works as its meant to. They are taping it though, and if we cannot access it live, we will get a tape.

Got your news that you will continue your trial limited access to forums up until you see your psych in a couple of weeks time. Just be very careful not to overstep the line you have placed in the sand for yourself. Know your limits.

Yes I think of you every day too, and know how very hard all this is for you. Sending love your way.

Emelia 💞💜💛🧡

Sending love to you all and I totally get the overwhelming feeling here of trying to keep up @NatureLover 🌷💞🌸💐🌹🌟🎁👋🌻❣️😘

Thank you, @Anastasia

Thanks for your understanding. I know you spread your love and care around a lot, and support a lot of people...so please be careful about burnout, @Anastasia ...if you get online here on the forums and the overwhelming feeling of trying to keep up makes you want to duck away again straight away, please, please take note and cut back on your support of people here. It's really awful, having to cut back...but burnout is more than just an overwhelmed feeling, it affects your real life too, and really limits what you can cope with offline as well. It also makes you less patient and loving in your real life relationships, which sucks. It's not a quick fix, either, I'm finding.

It's an awful feeling, not being there for people. 😞 It's like reaching inside for something to give, and finding the barrel empty. You care a lot, but there's nothing to give in their time of need. 😞

Thank you for your ...sending 🧡 back.

Thank you,

I can't put my finger on what it is for me I have taken what you have said onboard as I am struggling very much atm. Hugs and love xxx

So glad to hear this. 🙂

I would need to psych myself up to make the doctor appointment to get my shoulder /arms seen to. At least the worst one. I have an idea - I could make the appointment today, for later next week...that would give me a date to work towards. Thanks for the gentle push 🙂

Yes, 34 today...I do have aircon thankfully. Do you have aircon? I see you have 27 today..,.that would be stressful for you 😞

I see you sent me some strawberries...made me smile. 🙂

(I accidentally wrote "made me slime". Oops.) 😄

OK, had better go out to the chemist before it gets too hot. I hope you manage in the heat today. Here's some more 💙 and a ☕

@Emelia8 thanks for your reply 🙂 I'm a bit concerned about you trying to carry heavy shopping bags from the supermarket...they can be heavy...and presumably you will have more than can be carried with your good arm? 😞 Would your husband come with you to carry them maybe?

I hope your dentist appt went well...

Thank you for understanding how difficult this is. I can't think of any other illness which would require you to go away from your friends for 3 months! Unless it was leprosy or something, maybe! I know how hard you found it to be away from your friends here 😞 ...so I know you understand. I will try to watch myself over the next 2 weeks and not overdo it. I'm grateful for you taking the time and care to visit my thread.

I'm glad the funeral service is being live streamed....I hope the technology functions as it ought to. But still, it will be difficult to watch, I presume. 😞 Thinking of you and sending 💚 to you and thoughts for your husband.

Re: Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

@Maggie I made a GP appt for the 8th Dec to get my shoulders and arms looked at...I will need referrals for Xray and ultrasound apparently. It's both arms /shoulders that are painful, but one is much worse than the other. My doctor is away next week, so it's the week after, which gives me more time to psych up to facing all those appts. Thanks again for the nudge.

Is your RA worse in the heat? Or in the cold maybe? I understand the weather affects arthritis quite badly... 😞

Hi there @NatureLover ... I was just on the computer checking I have PINs that work for the funeral livestream. Its less than an hour away now, so got comfy chairs set up in the study and ready to go.

Dentist apt done! It was all okay. Glad to finally have it all done, as its beein going on since August. Now that its done (as my dentist kindly said) I can concentrate on my health issues and upcoming treatment.

Did the grocery shopping afterwards. I dont have to carry heavy bags with my bad arm. I use the trolley to get to the car and only have to move one bag at a time from trolley to car. When I get home, hubby helps me bringing the bags from the car into the kitchen. So no ... I'm not doing myself any damage. All good.

I was surprised to see you here this afternoon. Are you okay?

Emelia 🤗💕

@NatureLover

@Anastasia I'm afraid I've forgotten whether you have a counsellor /psychologist of your own. If you have, might it be worth seeing what they think? I don't want you to struggle so much and am sad to hear it 😞

Thank you for the hugs and love

Sending much 🧡 back to you.

@Emelia8 my mind is relieved about you carrying heavy shopping 🙂

Well done on finishing your dentist treatment, I'm glad.

I'm OK thanks, just missing people here a bit I guess. I figure if I'm only on my thread then I might be able to spend a bit more than half an hour a day, if I want...I'll see. I won't overdo it.

You sound all ready for the funeral service...I am hoping your husband copes with the service OK, and also with the fact he can't be there. I hope he doesn't take anything out on you...

Re: Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

@NatureLover Well done on making the appointments, it’s not at all easy.

It sounds very painful, I hope it’s not arthritis.

I actually find summer worse for my RA and osteoarthritis. The heat drains my energy, so I think that feels heavy. Also the heat from swelling etc. I’m learning how to cope with it. It’s a day by day thing.

I actually went out this afternoon with a friend. She wanted me to meet her sister. I was super anxious about it, but I got through better than expected. A quiet night tonight.

Its nice seeing you here on your thread. I hope it’s ok for you. Pace yourself and see how you are going each day.

Sending lots and lots of ❣️❣️❣️

@Emelia8 Thinking of you are you attend the funeral online. Some sad feelings this evening for you both, and your extended family. 💙💙💙

@Anastasia Sending lots of 💕💕💕💕
