Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

Thank you @NatureLover ... I hope so too. Had a bit of a meltdown last night. 😔

How are you going?

I'm sorry to hear...I visited your thread this morning, and saw your post about that...I was also looking for whether you'd posted the results of your surgeon's appointment yesterday. Yes, I strayed off my own thread! No rush to post the results at all...sending @Emelia8

I'm still struggling with what to do about taking 3 months away from the forums...no closer to a decision.

Hi @NatureLover always so nice to see you. I havent updated my thread yet, but will later today. In brief though re my surgeon apt and pathology results ... mostly good, but some big concerns too.

Sorry to hear you are no closer to a decision about taking a 3 month break from forum CG duties. It is a big decision, and I can see its a hard one for you.

Can I just (gently and with the best intentions) point something out to you? Your mental health professional has recommended you take a complete break for 3 months. They are the people with the best knowledge to advise an appropriate course of action to most benefit you.

You have been trialling a half hour a day restricted to your own thread. I know from having had several breaks from the forums myself, just how hard it is to keep up with things, even after only a few days. It gets even harder to maintain connections because we simply dont know whats going on for other members.

I sense this is, or will, become very frustrating for you, and I'm concerned that it may even do you harm. This is definitely not what any of us want to see happen. If it did, your recovery could be far longer than three months. Do you see what Im getting at?

I guess it could be said that if we pay a lot of money and have respect/faith in our MH team ... we have an obligation to ourselves to follow their advice.

If you do decide to take a break, all your many friends will understand, and will still be here upon your return. We all only want whats best for you.

I know its a really difficult decision @NatureLover and I dont envy you having to make it. But please ... keep your own long term wellbeing foremost in your mind.

Sending love and inner strength your way. You are a star, whatever way you decide, and that will never change.

Emelia 💖⭐

Dear @Emelia8 , you are right of course, and I know I will probably follow my psychologist's recommendation. I was hoping that I could stay connected here while also following her advice to not be supporting people...it is proving a bit difficult. But that's what this trial week is about, to show me that. It's kind of you to take the time to give me your thoughts, when you have so much going on yourself.

You're right that it's hard to stay connected while not knowing what's going on for other people. 😞 It's horrible, not knowing.

Thank you for your kind words. I am glad to read that your news is "mostly good"...I will be awaiting your update, to hear what the big concerns are. 😞

@NatureLover Thanks for the 💙💙💙

The canvass are taking me a few days to do now. Mainly because I’m using metallic and pearl top coats. The undercoat needs to dry. I’ve learnt to let each level dry, that way, when I make a mistake , it doesn’t mess the other stuff up.

I understand the decision you are struggling with is a difficult one. Do what is best for you. We will all be here when you return.

Take care of yourself. You are special to us all here. Sending 💕💕💕💕

I hadn't thought that you need to seal each layer, but of course you would, otherwise the dots might bleed into each other? I still think a few days is pretty amazing, for finishing such an intricate piece of work.

Thank you heaps for your kind words.

At the moment I am thinking about extending the trial week out for another 2 weeks, till I can see my psychologist on the 11th and ask her. I admit to reading on other threads sometimes...it's hard not to. Am trying to limit that.

I've been thinking of you as I've had shoulder /arm pain for a while now...been putting off getting it checked out. I don't know how you live with constant terrible pain, @Maggie 😞

Sending 💜 as always.

Thank you, @Anastasia

Thanks for your understanding. I know you spread your love and care around a lot, and support a lot of people...so please be careful about burnout, @Anastasia ...if you get online here on the forums and the overwhelming feeling of trying to keep up makes you want to duck away again straight away, please, please take note and cut back on your support of people here. It's really awful, having to cut back...but burnout is more than just an overwhelmed feeling, it affects your real life too, and really limits what you can cope with offline as well. It also makes you less patient and loving in your real life relationships, which sucks. It's not a quick fix, either, I'm finding.

It's an awful feeling, not being there for people. 😞 It's like reaching inside for something to give, and finding the barrel empty. You care a lot, but there's nothing to give in their time of need. 😞

Thank you for your ...sending 🧡 back.

Hi, dear @Emelia8 ...my post to you was next, and hey presto, you've written to me! Thank you for visiting me, I really appreciate it

Am not doing the best today, but am trying to ignore that feeling and push on as I have errands like the chemist that I can't put off any more. The weekend will be some relaxing and also housecleaning I think. What about your weekend?

I've just re-read your update from yesterday...thank you for that. It's good news about the clear margins and no node involvement. Not good about the second tumour found, or the pre-cancerous growths 😞 Also the fact that you are alone when you go to all your scary appointments. 😞

It's hard to find the words, but am thinking of you every day, and sending wishes and
